Rose June Spector beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Mauriceville, Texas joined Jesus on December 28, 2017 at the age of 80 after a long hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s. At her request her body was donated to Science Care facility in Colorado for research in hopes of helping find a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Rose was born on April 12, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, to June Marie Young Sheffield and Rufus Sheffield. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955 and then she attended Lamar University and graduated from Hotel Dieu as a Registered Nurse in 1958.

Rose worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Acres Nursing Home and Polly’s Nursing home as director of nurses, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before becoming a school nurse for Deweyville ISD where after 16 years of service she retired in 1994.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, Texas. Rose loved spending time at the lake fishing, baking for the holidays and spoiling her grandchildren. All of her grandchildren spent time in the kitchen, licking beaters of brownie batter or cookie dough, as well as rolling biscuits for chicken and dumplings.

Rose is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, James Richard Spector; sisters, Frances Simpson, of Nederland; and Robyn Baker and her husband, Ken, of Mansfield; sons, Jim Spector, of Winner, South Dakota; Tom Spector and his wife, Michele, of Brantford Ontario, Canada; and Tim Spector and his wife, Stacy ,of Kearney Nebraska; daughter, Cay Melancon and her husband, Daryl, of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Tre’ Spector and his wife Alyssa, of Salina, Kansas; Paige Melancon, of Houston; D.J. Melancon, of Lubbock; Justin Spector and his wife, Brooke, of Jena, Louisiana; Ryan Spector, of Nebraska; Danielle Pasztor; and Nic Pasztor, both of Canada; great-granddaughter, Addison Rose Spector, of Salina, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Rufus Sheffield and his wife, Ovon; mother, June Judice and her husband, Amos; brother, Michael Sheffield; and her grandson, Joshua Spector.

A gathering of Mrs. Spector’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Pecan Acres Baptist Church, Vidor.
