Roy J. Gonzales
Roy J. Gonzales was born on June 15, 1938. He passed away in his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Roy lived a full and wonderful life. His humble upbringing and love for Christ led him to study two years in the seminary until he met the love of his life, Margaret Durham. They married and had five children. Roy built his family a beautiful and robust life from nothing but hard work and faith in God. He was the true definition of the American Dream.
He enjoyed the fruits of his labor at the beach, golfing, hunting, and of course passed this love onto his children. As he thought he was so blessed by his beautiful wife and family; his grandchildren came along, and he was smitten. He loved them all, Noah, Christian, Tyler, Caroline, Hunter, Julianna, Ava, and Nicolas Roy.
As we all do, Roy endured many heartaches in the life. The passing of his own son and grandson, and well as battling blood cancer. But he lived on strong and grew in his faith. His life was a legacy to say the least and he will always be remembered and never forgotten as one of the strongest, most hardworking, honest, God loving and fearing man of our time. Love you daddy.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gonzales of Beaumont; son, Greg Gonzales of Beaumont; daughters, Kay Walker of Houston; Julie Artaza and her husband, Nic, of Katy; and Christy Gonzales of Beaumont; grandchildren, Christian Walker, Tyler Gonzalez; Hunter Gonzalez; Caroline Walker; Juliana Artaza; Ava Artaza; and Nicolas Artaza; and siblings, Elida McCrate and Rey Gonzales.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents; son, Doug Gonzalez; and grandson, Noah Mark Rand.

Our prayers for all of Roy’s family. friends and loved ones. I knew Roy through St. Anthony school. Roy was a couple of grades ahead of me, but being such a small school, there was always a close bond between all of the students. Later, I was part of a weekly golf game, with Roy and his friends. They say that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he plays the game of golf. Therefore, I knew Roy as a honest, hard working, proud family man. May he rest in peace, as a member of the Family of GOD, in Heaven.
🙏🙏🙏
