Roy Kelly

November 20, 1923 - August 11, 2021

Roy Anderson Kelly, 97, 0f Waco, died Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1923, in Hornbeck, Louisiana, to Alice Lea Skinner Kelly and Melvin Fernandez Kelly.

Roy was proud to serve in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Della Mae Kelly, for 65 years.  He loved his job, retiring from Texaco as a Mechanical Engineer after over thirty years of service.  He was a patriot who deeply loved God, his family and his country.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Burson and her husband, Rex, of Granbury Tricia Raley and her husband, Steve, of McGregor; grandchildren, Erin Phillips and her husband, Chris, of Tyler; Matthew Raley and his wife, Aimee, of Houston; Allison Crawford and her husband, Scott, of Arlington; and Ashley Nicolle and her husband, Bryan, of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Cambria Pierce, Cameron Phillips, Gracelyn Crawford, Rhyder Nicolle, Rylee Phillips, Judson Phillips, and Aiden Raley.

A gathering of Mr. Kelly’s family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Kelly’s memory to Family Legacy Missions, 5005 West Royal Lane #252, Irving, Texas 75063.

    I used to clean Mr. Kelley’s apartment at Cottages of Oak Springs in Waco. He was a lovely and kind person. He will always remain in my memories as one of my favorite people. I only learned of his passing recently.

    Mr Kelly was such an amazing sweet honorable man. I will always cherish the time I got to spend with him.

Our world is less now that he's gone, but it's certainly better for his being here. He was a huge influence in our lives. Love to his girls, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all those who knew him.
