Ruby Cecile Abshire Gould Montgomery
Ruby Cecile Abshire Gould Montgomery, 77, of Winnie, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Arden Place of Beaumont. She was born December 24, 1945, in Kaplan, Louisiana, to Theresa Ann LaPointe Abshire and Percy Louis Abshire.
She enjoyed cooking, bowling, and was proficient with computers. She could outdance anyone, especially to Cajun music. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Mawmaw.
Survivors include her husband of over twenty years, Robert Montgomery of Winnie; daughter, Theresa Cathey and husband, Kenny of Winnie; grandson, Kenneth C. “Bubba” Cathey and wife, Betsy of Stowell; sister, Elaine Eckman and husband, Richard of Clear Lake; stepsons, Larry Wayne Montgomery, of Winnie and Stephen Montgomery and wife, Mary, of Lindale; step grandchildren, Caleb Montgomery; Elizabeth Montgomery; Julia Montgomery; Addison Montgomery; Lauren Montgomery; and Kristina Montgomery; nephews, Henry Stutes, Jr. and David Stutes; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kristy Cathey; brother, Lester J. Abshire; and her beloved dog, Paco.
A gathering of Mrs. Montgomery’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
