Ruby Marie Ransonette

December 12, 1935 - May 9, 2024

Ruby Marie Ransonette, 88, of Beaumont, died Thursday, May 9, 2024. She was born on December 12, 1935, to Elise Meaux Courville and Jules Gaston Courville, in Catahoula, Louisiana.

Ruby graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas, in 1954 and married Harold “Red” Ransonette the summer after graduation.  Ruby worked in the office at St. Joseph church for many years and in 1973 decided to attend Stilwell Technical Center in Office Education.  After graduating from Stilwell, she became a teller at Texaco Credit Union, eventually becoming supervisor of tellers, and helped establish the 5 Point Credit Union Beaumont branch.

Her many hobbies included pastel painting, decorating for every holiday, sewing, making homemade birthday cards on her computer for every birthday, cooking delicious meals for every holiday, working in the yard, playing slot machines, traveling, and working on her Class Reunion Committee.

Ruby’s busiest and favorite sidelines were making clown suits and styling wigs for her husband “Red” a/k/a Jingles the Clown and being active as a frequent homeroom mother and school helper for all four of her children.

Ruby and Red also taught swimming with the Red Cross at Woodrow Wilson for many years and were famous for being some of the best jitterbug dancers in town. In 1986, she fulfilled a dream of hers taking a trip to China, which was a highlight of her life.

She was an active member of St. Jude church in Beaumont.  She hosted the prayer blanket ministry and was a member of the bell choir.  She cherished all of the loving relationships she and Red had with their friends at St. Jude.

Although she never fulfilled her teenage goal of becoming a member of the FBI or an airline stewardess, she had a wonderful, exciting, and fun filled life and cherished all of her relationships, especially those with  her sisters and brother and all her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Laurie Anderson of Beaumont; son, Stuart Ransonette and his wife, Kim, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; son-in-law, Dan Grillo of Beaumont; grandchildren, Cory Anderson, and his wife, Jamie Anderson, Elliott Grillo, Alec Grillo, Katie Grillo, Sean Malin, Sean Ransonette and his fiancée, Christy Lee; and Christian Ransonette and his wife, Logan Ransonette; great-grandchildren, Ava Anderson, Lucas Anderson, Isabelle Grillo, Freya Grillo, and Winter Grillo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Red” Ransonette; daughters, Terry Grillo and Bonnie Ransonette; and great-granddaughter, Nadia Grillo.
