Rudolph Joseph Stout, Jr.
Rudolph Joseph “R.J.” Stout, Jr., 92, of Beaumont, Texas, was called peacefully to his eternal home on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas. A gentle soul of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness, R.J. lived a life devoted to God, family, and service to others.
R.J. was born in 1933 to Annie Mary Stansbury and Rudolph Joseph Stout, Sr., whose roots were in southern Louisiana. He was the youngest of five children and grew up in Beaumont surrounded by a loving family that shaped his lifelong values of humility, integrity, and compassion.
A 1952 graduate of Beaumont High School, R.J. went on to attend Lamar University, where he studied engineering. A gifted athlete, he played football and baseball, earning recognition as an all-district shortstop. He also loved music and served as president of the Exporter Choir. Though naturally shy and soft-spoken, he was well loved and respected by teachers and classmates alike.
Following his studies, R.J. worked at Bethlehem Steel before proudly serving two years in the United States Army, where he was stationed near Washington, D.C., helping protect the nation’s capital. After his honorable discharge, he began a long and faithful career with Gulf States Utilities—later Entergy—in 1956, retiring in 1995 after nearly four decades of dedicated service. There he met his wife of 62 years, Peggie Bullard. With his marriage, he gained a daughter, Pamela Renee. R.J. was a loving and devout husband and father.
R.J. and his beloved wife, shared a life rooted in faith, love, and loyalty. Together they worked at Entergy and were devoted members of Forest Park United Methodist Church. R.J. was a pillar of the church, studying the Bible daily and serving tirelessly as treasurer, chairman of the ushers, and in countless other roles. He showed up every day simply to do whatever needed to be done, never seeking recognition, only the chance to serve. His quiet faith and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.
R.J. was also a Director of the Beaumont Northwest Lions Club, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others. Except for his military service, he spent his entire life in Beaumont—a community he loved deeply.
With Peggie, he enjoyed traveling with her brother Pat and sister-in-law Shirley, spending cherished time at the lake with the Bullard family, and sharing simple joys together. R.J. loved watching the news and cheering on the Texas A&M Aggies. He was highly intelligent, deeply curious, and always eager to understand the world around him.
Those who knew R.J. will remember a man who was gentle, kind, and unfailingly sincere—a man of his word, soft-spoken yet strong in spirit. He loved his family, his country, and his Lord with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Peggie Stout; his parents and his beloved siblings, Dorothy Stout Hardin (Guy), Raymond Stout (Shirley), Elaine Stout Menefee (Melvin), and Ramona Stout Budd (Bill).
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Biscamp Forrest; his cherished granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Forrest; his beloved niece, Nancy Budd Pattie and her husband, Joe; niece, Sharon Stout; nephew, Rodney Stout; niece, Debbie Menefee Ethridge and her husband, Dale; Roger and Becky Menefee and always enjoyed time with great-nieces, Ciera Pattie and Stacy Wiley. He is also survived by the extended Bullard family, whom he held dear, Linda and Paul Bullard of College Station, Shirley Bullard of Marble Falls, Debra Bullard of Tomball, and Perri and Ken Cook of Leesburg, Florida. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom were blessed by his steady love and gentle example.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 S. Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas.
A gathering of Mr. Stout’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. with his memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to spend time with Uncle RJ before his passing. We spoke of memories from the past and I learned new things about him that’s really comforted me. I want to thank the members of Forest Park Methodist church for giving a wonderful reception honoring Uncle RJ.
Uncle RJ was my favorite uncle. Fond memories of riding on the handlebars of his bicycle on sidewalks near his home. He always showed sincere interest in you. Certainly a model of Christian servanthood. I’m sure as he stepped into glory the 1st thing he heard was “Well Done”.
R.J. and Peggie were my bonus parents and good friends with my parents. I will never forget all of our Sunday lunches at Jason’s and all of the good times we shared. R.J. and my dad took great pride in caring for Forest Park Methodist Church. R.J.. will be forever missed.
My Uncle R J was my mother, Elaine Menefee’s little brother. He was always so loving and kind to all of our family. I have a sweet memory of him always coming by my mom and dad’s house at Christmas time and delivering pecans. My mom was such a good cook. My mm and dad passed away in 1990 and 1991. Our children were young. I remember when Uncle RJ and Aunt Peggy attended both of my girl’s weddings… Lindsey Etheridge Burch and Kelly Etheridge Coleman. I was so glad to see them and it meant so much to our family. They always supported us with love and affection. I know that Uncle RJ is celebrating with all of his family in Heaven!!! Our family verse is Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. I know that Uncle RJ loved the Lord with all his heart and i look forward to being a part of that great reunion one day… God bless
The obituary describes him very well. We loved him @ Forest Park Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed.
Anyone who knew RJ knows that he was a good friend and will be missed by many. He and his wife, Peggy, were great people with a heart that was full of love and kindness toward others. May he Rest in Peace, good and faithful servant.
