Mr. Ortego was a great man, who raised two great sons. Truly someone to look up to and emulate. The time I spent with him was brief, but he left a lasting impact on me and the positive trajectory of my life. I hope his family finds peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Mary Ann, I am so sorry for your loss. Russell was the finest man and he was honest, caring and compassionate. I know you will be lost without him. He loved you dearly. Becky

I worked with Russell at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department back in the 1970’s. He was an excellent dispatcher and again later as Director of the Pre-Trial Release Program. He was a pleasure to work with and to know personally.

Russel was a great person and will be missed. I remember going to him for advice and help many times growing up. He always was direct with his advice.
