Sallie Jane (Wyatt) Wilson

September 21, 1939 - February 15, 2021

Sallie Jane (Wyatt) Wilson was born in 1939 to Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Wyatt.  She recently passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in Beaumont, Texas.  

In high school, Sallie Jane was an avid athlete enjoying competitive swimming, volleyball and basketball.  She began learning piano at an early age and it became a life-long vocation. She went on to study at San Angelo College (Angelo State University now) where she met her future husband, Ches.   

Sallie had a love for children and sharing with them her love for music. Sallie taught piano lessons for 53 years and was Assistant Band Director in Borden County. She also provided piano and organ accompaniment for numerous churches in various towns throughout her career; but, her love was always playing accompaniment for Ches’ singing. They held a weekly Gospel Singing Hour up until mid-2019 at their home in League City, Texas.

Sallie is survived by her children, Stacy Putman (Hugh), Steve Wilson (Dollie), Joan Harmon (Darwin); grandchildren, Trace Wilson, Katie Spence (Grant), Brooke Wilson, Andy Putman (Fiona); and great-grandchildren, Miley Schaffer and Wyatt, Silas and Stella Spence. 

A funeral service for Mrs. Wilson will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
