Sam Houston Stroud

May 2, 1946 - February 6, 2022

Sam Houston Stroud, 75, of Vidor, died Sunday, February 6, 2022.  He was born on May 2, 1946, in Hemphill, to Gertrude Campbell Stroud and Andrew Obediah Stroud.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Catherine Stroud; children, Kim Horton and Sam Stroud, II, and his wife, Becky; grandchildren, Breanna Townley and her husband, Chad; Hayley Howard and her husband, Dylan; Brent Stroud and his wife, Shailee; and Gabriel Horton; all of Vidor; great-grandchildren, Brylan Townley, Kinslee Townley, Jacleigh Townley, Olivia Townley, Baylor Townley, Kylee Brooke Howard, Korbyn Horton, Kymlee Horton, and Karsyn Horton; and sister, Delores Brown and her husband, Wayne, of Vidor.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Marvin Stroud, Darlis Stroud, and Kenny Stroud.

A gathering of Sam’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, 21987 I-10, Vidor. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the church, with his interment to follow at 3:00 p.m., at Pinehill Cemetery, Hemphill.
