Samir “Sam” Mehio

April 22, 1957 - March 3, 2025

Samir “Sam” Mehio, 67, of Beaumont, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. He was born April 22, 1957, in Lebanon, to Salma and Farouk Mehio.

Samir was a proud veteran dedicating 21 years of service to the United States Air Force, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country and his fellow service members. Throughout his distinguished career, Samir exemplified honor, courage, and commitment, serving in North Dakota, Germany, Turkey, and Hawaii. Following his military service, he worked at Cloeren.

Sam moved to Texas with his family from Lebanon when he was 11 years old.  He graduated from Nederland High School in 1977 and from Wayland Baptist University with a BS in Business Management. He traveled all over the world with the military and after.  Sam never met a stranger when traveling, dancing, waiting in line or talking on the phone.  He always opened his home to all of his family always saying you do not need to ask.  He met everyone with his cheerful attitude and positive encouragement.

Sam’s children, family and friends brought joy to his life. He also enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, golf, and recently pickleball. Sam loved music and country dancing.  He enjoyed taking family members to Disney World and traveling. He was very proud of his family, often bragging about his daughter, Natalie, a music teacher, his son, Samir, an engineer, and his son, Shawn, a retired airman and a biomedical equipment technician.  His granddaughter, Jazzy, and his grandson, Raj, had their own special place in his heart. Sam was also excited about the new knowledge of another grandson on the way.

Samir leaves behind his children, Shawn Flowers and wife, Alissa; Natalie Gore and husband, Derek; Samir Mehio and wife, Antara; sisters, Hanane Porter; Dona Naughton and husband, Brian; Susan LeBlanc and husband, Sal; grandchildren, Jazzy and Raj; nephews, Michael, James, and Justin and wife, Reagan; and niece, Sydney.

Sam is preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by his parents, Salma and Farouk Mehio, and brother-in-law, John Porter.

A gathering of Samir’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A celebration honoring his life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Broussard’s, followed by his interment with military honors at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

“Sam” was a pleasure to work with and be around. He was always willing to embrace change that helped our company, even if he had to shoulder more of the burden. Always in a good mood and always willing to go the extra mile.

    Hanane Porter says:

Thank you so much for the kind words about our brother and sharing! He would say at times that was the Air Force way that he attributed his work ethics to, but he was truly always a hard worker!
