Sandra Kay Hensley
Sandra (Sandy) Kay Hensley, 72, of Beaumont, Texas, formally of Coulterville, Illinois died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
She was born November 6, 1952 in Red Bud, Illinois to James Ervin Cairns and Beulah Darlene (Deppe) Cairns. Sandy graduated Coulterville’s class of 1970 and attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Sandy was a devout Christian and longtime member of Westgate Baptist Church, Beaumont. She was very fond of, and active, in her Sunday school class, “Sisters in Christ”.
Sandy worked at Baldwin Power Plant, Baldwin, Illinois for several years and retired from Coldwell Banker in Beaumont, Texas.
She was an accomplished seamstress. She had a great love of sewing, cooking, crocheting, oil painting, cross-stitching, and floral arranging.
Sandy is survived by her mother, Beulah Cairns of Sparta; sister, Susan Colbert of Sparta; brothers, James Cairns of Patton, Missouri and Larry Cairns of Sparta; son, Samuel Hensley; foster daughter, Katie Johnston; Aunt, Alma Fern Deppe Wilson; nephews, J. Eric (Kristin) Colbert, Adam Colbert, Sean Cairns, Joshua (Krissy) Cairns; niece, Daisy (Aaron) Cairns Kratz; granddaughters, Taylor and Rachel; two great-grandchildren; dear friends, Joe & Celie Bloomfield and Scotti Nordstrom; and many cousins, great niece, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandparents, George and Mary Elizabeth (Blair) Cairns; maternal grandparents, Isaac Paul and Daisy (Snider) Deppe; and niece, Cassi Lin Cairns Stuby.
