Sandy Lynn Craigen
Sandy Lynn Craigen, 61, of Port Arthur, died Monday, March 20, 2023. She was born on July 4, 1961, in Beaumont, to Peggy Wilber Craigen and Joseph William Craigen, Jr.
Sandy loved traveling, bingo, music, and dancing. She will be remembered for her zest for life and enjoying it every day. She will forever remain a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
Survivors include her son, Brent James Thrasher of Port Acres; mother, Peggy Joyce Theriot of Port Acres; sisters, Vickie Yeager of Port Acres; Janette Sattler of Hamshire; Lanette Daigle and her husband, Cully, of Fannett; and Terri West of Hamshire; brothers, Jamie Theriot and his wife, Deloris, of Nederland; Randy Theriot and his wife, Jan, of Nederland; and Brandon Breaux of Hamshire; nephew, Ryan McDaniel of Port Acres; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her biological father, J.W. Craigen and father, Jimmy Theriot.
A gathering of Sandy’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her committal will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions in Sandy’s honor may be made to Spina Bifida Association, 1600 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 800, Arlington, Virginia 22209.

I met Sandy when she began working at LSCPA. She was an amazing friend to me, and I will never forget her incredible laugh and her beautiful smile. Sandy’s life on earth was short, and it came with many challenges, yet there was nothing that could stop her from achieving her goals. What an inspiration she was!
I know that Sandy is in a better place now, but her family and friends are left broken-hearted. RIP my sweet friend….the fight was hard, but you now have your victory!

You were a great friend Cousin Sandy, and what fun we had. Rolling Stones and the Janis Joplin Birthday Bash to name a few. You and Brent came to Las Vegas to visit not long after Traci died. We hit Yosemite and Death Valley having a blast all the way as you helped to ease my pain. Your lifelong disability never got in your way. God Bless you Sandy Craigen.
I had work contact with Sandy for many years at Lamar University. She was always very accommodating with the various work issues we dealt with and was always so nice and so pleasant. I know she will be missed by all, many prayers for family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear about Sandy. My thoughts and prayers are with Peggy, Brent, and all of Sandy’s family during this time.
I knew Sandy for most of my 66 years and as has been recounted on numerous memorials Sandy was a strong and tough girl and had an awesome personality and outlook on life despite her lot in life. Last time I saw her she was at the polls working for us on Election Day. Beautiful, Spirited and will be missed.

To ALL of Sandy’s family I just want to extend my condolences for your loss. Sandy was a BEAUTIFUL person in EVERY way! She indeed loved life and did her best to live it to the fullest. I remember when we were younger, I thought how much of a brave, strong, courageous and most definitely independent person she was..NOTHING, (especially some disability, which was like NOTHING to her), was gonna stop this girl from living a full, normal and fun life, just like the rest of us! And indeed we had some fun times, like going to see John Connelly; she Debbie Robbins and I! Then she, my sister Cindy and I went to see Chubby Checker..we got to go back stage and he asked if we were staying for the second show. When we told him we didn’t have tickets he told us to just go sit up in the front row, then called us up on stage when he was singing “The Twist”, what a night THAT was! Even though our jobs and kids kept us from being able to spend more time together as friends should, Sandy will FOREVER be in my heart!
I LOVE you ALL, Miss Peggy, Vickie and the rest of the family and I pray for GOD’S PEACE, GRACE, MERCY and LOVE to be with you all as you grieve the loss of an amazing member of your family..RIP dear, sweet, Sandy..????
Sandy was a longtime colleague of mine. She had a beautiful and noble soul. I have always inspired by her high spirits and optimism in the face of life’s difficulties. She will be missed greatly. My sincere condolences to her family.

Sandy was an amazing person. When I was a kid she would bring me to the movies at central mall so we could watch all the Harry Potter movies. Though I didn’t see her much as I became an adult I never forgot about that. Being around her as a kid impacted me in a very positive way and it’s where I learned to always open the door for a lady. Never will forget you Sandy. Love you.
Our prayers are for your strength during this difficult time. I worked with Sandy at Beaumont State Center and reconnected with her, of all places, at Davita. She was a shining light even when she wasn’t a 100%. She will be missed.
Many of the Lamar University and particularly the Lamar University College of Engineering faculty and staff adored Sandy and she touched many of our hearts, and made us laugh, during her lengthy time as the IE Department Administrative Assistant. She served with dignity and love my entire tenure as Industrial Engineering Chair and before that as Victor’s Administrative Assistant… Victor hired Sandy and that proved to be a wonderful decision and a true asset to the department, particularly for the 1000s of students that came through during her tenure. Sandy’s huge personality, living life to the fullest, while loving each of the students were beyond amazing and I am honored to have had her as a colleague and friend.
Sandy was one of the most fun and delightful people to be around. She loved to laugh! So sad that her body failed her. She deserved a long, long life and she will be missed.

I worked with Sandy at Spindletop for many years. After I left there, we stayed in contact. She was always a ray of sunshine, no matter what was going on. We shared lots of laughs, stories, drinks and a great friendship. She will be truly missed by many..

Sandy was the sweetest, most kind person we all should strife to be. No matter how she felt, she always had a smile for you. She was the best friend anyone could hope for. I will miss her, but now she is at peace.
I have known Sandy for many years through a doctor I currently work for. We would often visit. She was such a wonderful person and will be missed.

There are so many fun memories with Sandy. Hanging out with her always included alot of laughing. I count our Bob Seger concert in Houston as one of the best times I’ve ever had. She was a good friend. Time goes by so fast. Rest east Sandy. You are loved. ????❤️????
