Sharon Cecilia Burgess
Sharon Cecilia Burgess, 76, of Winnie, died Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born October 27, 1945, to Anita and Tom Jenkins.
Sharon graduated from East Chambers and continued her education, earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lamar University. She pursued her love of nursing, becoming the Director of Nursing of Winnie Community Hospital, and then serving as a Chambers County nurse until her retirement. She also served as the president of the hospital board.
As a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Sharon was strongly rooted in her Catholic faith. Her caring spirit radiated to those around her, and her laughter was infectious. Her smile could light up a room. Through her strong faith and love of her family, she has left a lasting legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Briet Steele and wife, Diane; Holly Steele; and Cody Billeaudeau and fiancé, Jessica Fisette; grandchildren, Meagan Steele; Adam Steele; Samuel Billeaudeau; Oliver Billeaudeau; and Serena Fisette; great-grandchildren, Grayson Ross and Elliot Ross; siblings, Jeffery Jenkins and wife, Sheri; David Jenkins and wife, Carman; and Steve Jenkins and wife, Therese; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Danny Steele.
A gathering of Ms. Burgess’ family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2022, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
