Shawn D. Hathaway

June 20, 1968 - December 23, 2020

Shawn D. Hathaway, 52 of Beaumont, left for his forever home in heaven on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. He was born to Karol Harrington Hathaway and Henry Hathaway in Port Arthur.

Shawn worked at Exxon Mobil Chemical for thirty years, where he fostered many lifelong friendships, that became his second family. He took his job extremely serious, he led by example and was well respected by all. He was also known for his sense of humor and quick wittedness.

Shawn’s greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his children, Easton and Nicci. They enjoyed many simple things in life together. They loved movie nights and had many vacations at their family home in Colorado.

Amber, his inherited daughter, brought much joy to his life. They shared a very special bond, that will never be broken. They truly loved and cherished each other.

Shawn referred to himself as “Daddy” to everyone, but the name that he treasured the most was what his grandson Cooper called him “Cat Daddy.” This was a name Shawn hand-picked for himself, before Lil’ Cooper came along.

Shawn’s very best friend was his wife Becky. They were indeed soulmates. They were each other’s worlds from day one. Their love for each other, could only be described as “A match made in heaven.” Their life together was indeed a love story.

Shawn lived life with an infectious personality, laughter and love. He was a kind-hearted and honorable man who would do anything for the people in his life. It has been often said… “To know him, was to love him”. He never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. His legacy will live on, through the many lives he touched.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Hathaway of Beaumont; son, Easton Hathaway of Katy; daughters, Nicci Hathaway of Katy and Amber Lange of Fannett; grandson, Cooper Lange of Fannett; parents, Karol and Henry Hathaway of Pinewood; and brothers, Bret Hathaway, of Houston and Lance Hathaway and his wife, Suzan of Orange.

He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, “Mom Marie and Pop” Harrington and uncle, Doug Harrington, Sr.

You were a good friend and will be missed by so many. I remember all those beach trips, jet ski runs with the kids, and trips to The Camp as your dad affectionately refers to his home away from home in Colorado. The Bible promises that god resurrects those who have passed away in death and that our sins are forgiven through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rest In Peace Shawn. Until we see you again. May the peace of god help the family during this difficult time.
