Shawn Wheeler Aycock
Shawn Wheeler Aycock, 22, of Nederland, died Saturday, April 29, 2023. He was born April 21, 2001, in Dallas.
Shawn was in the fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha (Pikes) and he was very close to all of his brothers. He never met a stranger. Shawn was a wonderful son, brother, and friend, always ready to help and protect all those that he loved.
He was a very talented athlete and musician. He made it to state in powerlifting, band, and tennis. He went fishing any chance he got. Not only did he love skateboarding, he also taught his brothers, cousins, and numerous friends to skate.
Shawn quite literally danced through life. If there was a dance floor, he would be in the center of it. In fact, there didn’t even have to be a dance floor for him to break out his moves.
He not only loved listening to all types of music, he loved to play it, too. He was a very talented drummer. Even with no drumsticks or drum in front of him, he turned anything in the house into a drum with his hands.
Survivors include his mothers, Stacy Wheeler and Nickey Aycock; grandparents, Wanda Hernandez and Ronald Wheeler and wife, Linda; brothers, Reese Aycock and Devin Aycock; aunt, Jamie Mayer and husband, Terry; uncle, Rickey Aycock; aunt, Rhonda Carter and husband, Brian; uncle, Travis Wheeler; and numerous cousins.
A gathering of Shawn’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s, Crematorium, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions in Shawn’s honor may be made to Texas Suicide Prevention, P.O. Box 341523, Austin, Texas 78734-1523.
We want to thank all of his Pike brothers, friends, and family for celebrating his life and contributing to make this most deserved send off possible.
