Sheri Hawley Jenkins

March 12, 1957 - October 19, 2025

Sheri Hawley Jenkins of Winnie, passed away on October 19, 2025. Sheri was born on March 12, 1957, to Margie Brassier Hawley and Frank Hawley in Beaumont.

She grew up in China and graduated from Hardin Jefferson High School in 1975. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Jeffery Jenkins, and two years later they welcomed their son, Christopher. Sheri spent many years working as an Accounting Manager for Trinity Bay Water District, where her sharp mind and steady hand kept things running smoothly until her retirement. Sheri was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie.

She was also the kind of person who made life sweeter literally. A wonderful baker with an undeniable sweet tooth, Sheri was famous for her desserts and for never turning down a cookie or a slice of cake. She often joked that the quality of the sweets determined how good (or bad) a party was, and she wasn’t wrong. Her competitive streak came out during family nights, where she played to win and kept everyone on their toes and with her quick wit and dry sense of humor… she was known to change the rules mid game if it was advantageous to her hand!!

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Jenkins of Winnie; son, Chris Jenkins and wife, Waverly of Lumberton; stepson, Thomas Jenkins of Austin, and Rachel McGreevy and her husband, Monty of Katy; and grandchildren, Cai Jenkins, Chase, Trevor, Kaden, Mikella Mia McGreevy. She is survived by her sisters, Tina Almond and her husband, Doug of Beaumont, and Tammy Ballard and her husband, Michael of Winnie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Rosary for Mrs. Jenkins will be recited at 5:30 p.m., with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas 77665.

I was going on a project up in Wyoming several years ago and was going to be away for a long time. I had asked my mother to cooking me some breakfast the night before I left. Mom told me that she does not cook for no man and dam sure was not cooking for me. I do not know if Sheri or Uncle Jeff heard the conversation but the next morning they called me over to there house. Sheri had the biggest and best breakfast spread I ever or will ever have. I am crying now thinking of it. It really ment a lot to me.

Sheri and I graduated from H-J together in 1975. She was sweet, smart and kind. We were part of a small group that pioneered girls in the agricultural sector of our school district. We paved the way for the hundreds of girls that followed us. She will be missed. I pray God’s peace and comfort surround you all in the days and weeks ahead.
