Sherrill Francis Guidry

December 10, 1941 - June 16, 2021

Sherrill Francis Guidry, 79, of Hemphill, went home to be with the Lord with his loved ones by his side on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born on December 10, 1941, to Ernestine Spivey Guidry and Noah Guidry.  Mr. Guidry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He served aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea from May of 1963 to May of 1967.

Sherrill most loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, but his great-grandchildren held the key to his heart. He was his absolute happiest when he was getting out-fished by his wife while fishing for crappie. Although, a close second was when he was making people laugh with his silly antics. Sherill was most known in his community for being the first person to lend a helping hand anytime a friend or neighbor needed it.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Theresa Guidry; children, Melissa Fisher and her husband, Bret, of Mont Belvieu and Stephanie Sandoval and her husband, Gilbert, of Baytown; grandchildren, Mason Fisher and his wife, Kaylee; Hunter Cervenka and his wife, Terran; Tyler Cervenka and his wife, Carlee; Madison Blocker and her husband, Jarrod; Tanner Hale; Gilbert Sandoval, II; Daniel Sandoval and his wife, Leni; and Brianna Sandoval; great-grandchildren, Maddux Fisher and Beckett Blocker; and siblings, Charles Guidry of Mont Belvieu; Winston Guidry of La Belle; and Lynn Guidry and his wife, Patsy, of Baytown.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Mr. Guidry’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church of Sour Lake, 13430 FM 421, Kountze, with his interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Sour Lake, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Springs Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 787 Hemphill, Texas 75948 or Pine Ridge Baptist Church, 13430 FM 421, Kountze, Texas 77625.

My most sincere condolences to Theresa and family. So sorry for your loss. I wish I could have met Sherrill. May God bless and comfort you all.

Sherill &his wife were members of our church, Camp Springs Baptist is Hemphill, Texas. They were both becons of laughter, love and being part of our church family. He always was willing to pitch in and work at the church. He kept us on our toes with his laughter and outside gatherings. He always had a big smile on his face while thinking he was Lawrence Welk. I didn't get my last quick step dance that he was always trying to create, but I'll see him in heaven and we will trot around the clouds singing and praising God. Thank you for giving us Sherrill for the length of time we were able to share God's words of wisdom with him. .

Jan and I have had a cabin next door to the Guidry’s lakeside home for almost 10 years. Their love and friendship have enriched our lives in immeasurable ways. We will always miss you our friend. Godspeed. Bob and Jan Sandilos

Mr. Sherrill was one of a kind, a handsome gentleman, and will never be forgotten. If you were at a gathering, he would be the friend to look for because he would always make you feel welcomed. He was wise but also super funny, and I know that’s where my sweet friend, Stephanie inherited her sense of humor. She’d always talk about how he loved God, “Dad says you’re not supposed to work on Sunday!” or that he was never afraid of dying because of his deep faith. I wish he could give just us more much-needed advice and some hearty laughs. We’ll watch over Theresa, Mr. Guidry, but we know you’ll be guarding all of us, especially your daughters. Our deepest condolences from the Pena and Klepser Families. You will be missed.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Sherrill. The last time that we spoke with Grace & Al they said that Sherrill wasn't doing very well. We are grateful for the times that we had to be together for a meal and a visit or just a visit. ..He was fun to be around. We will keep you and your families on our hearts and in our prayers. We ask that you receive the peace that only God can give you, Theresa, and the strength and the energy to take care of those things that must be done fairly quickly.. Lots of love, Bill & Sandy

Sincere condolences to you Teresa, and to your wonderful family. I am so saddened to hear today of his passing. He was an amazing man. A kind, funny, interesting person who I will always remember. I will so miss our visits and conversations and I considered him a good friend. His passing leaves an empty spot in my heart. What a great man! May he rest in peace with youth restored and pain finally cured.
