Sherry Sawyer Adams

May 1, 1935 - March 15, 2025

Sherry Sawyer Adams, 89, of Calder Woods died March 15, 2025, at Harbor Hospice Beaumont. She was born on May 1, 1935, in Jasper, Texas, to Herselle and Carl Sawyer.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Adams of Vidor; daughter-in-law, Terri Adams of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Jeri and Stephen Sterling of Vidor; Aaron Adams of Vidor; and Jesse and Klaire Adams of San Marcos; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of sixty-four years, Ronnie Adams; brother, John Sawyer; son, Dean Adams; daughter, Beth Adams Kindon; son-in-law, William Kindon; and grandson, Adam Kindon.

Sherry was a long-time resident of Bevil Oaks and was active in the volunteer fire department. She was an elected councilwoman for the city of Bevil Oaks for many years. She was a graduate of Lamar University and a charter member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was a first-grade teacher and grade chairman at Pine Forest Elementary in Vidor for twenty-seven years. As long time RVers, she and her family were members of the Fun Travelers and the Gulf Coast Loafers, traveling all over North America. In later years, Sherry and Ronnie enjoyed traveling to Europe and cruises all over the world. They also loved traveling with family, especially their grandchildren. Sherry loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by friends and family.

A gathering of Mrs. Adams’ family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

    I will always remember Aunt Sherry’s soft and caring personality and easy laughter. She was the one the kindest and gentlest persons you would have the privilege to know. As a teacher she was genuinely concerned for all of her students. We have lost a wonderful lady.

    Sherry was my Sister in Christ, like the Sister I never had. We shared many good times together. Very hard to let her go, but she is now at peace and free of pain and worry. Rest in peace my sweet Sister friend. My condolences to her Family.

    I am so sorrry to hear of Sherry”s death. She was such a sweet lady. We taught together in Vidor, camped together, played cards together, and she was my neighbor at Calder Woods for the last few years. I will miss her greatly.
