Sidney Paul Lege

October 12, 1938 - July 22, 2024

Sidney Paul Lege, 85, of Winnie, died Monday, July 22, 2024. He was born October 12, 1938, in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Polita and Leonce Lege, Sr.

Sidney enjoyed the simpler things. He enjoyed watching western movies and spending time with his family. He was a devout Catholic, his faith was very important in his life. Sidney was a truck driver for thirty years.

Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Benton, and her husband, Bobby, of Winnie; son, Rodney Lege of Pearland; grandchildren, Ashley Reese, and her husband Austin, of Crosby and Jeremy Duhon of Colorado; sister, Lois Sevin, of Lumberton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonce Lege, Jr.; sister, Esther Broussard; and brother, Pierre Lege.

A gathering of Mr. Lege’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

    We are Kin, Taunt Polita was in the room when I was born. October 14, 1954. Loved Uncle Leonce and Taunt Polita. My dad was Dalton Trahan, my grandmother was Clemence Bertrand Trahan. We are so sorry for your loss, I will include your family in our prayers. Taunt Polita always teased me for not being born on her birthday Oct. 13th.
