Smith Neel

Smith Thomas “S.T.” Neel, 85, of Nederland, died Monday, Feburary 17, 2020, at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Groves. He was born on April 14, 1934, in Many, Louisiana, to Vera Leona Callaway Neel and Hoyt Neel. S.T. was from Negreet. He graduated from Negreet High School. He worked for Kansas City Railroad, Gulf Oil, and retired from DuPont. He also owned S.T. Neel Realtor for many years.

Survivors include his daughters, Debra K. Neel Fornols and her husband, Frank; Paula D. Neel Sexton and her husband, Gary; and Lora S. Neel Stein and her husband, Joel, all of Nederland; grandchildren, Eric J. Fornols; Brittany Dozier and her husband, Tyler; Cory Stinson; Emily Williams and her husband, Dustin; Sarah Stein; and Jacy Stein; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Fornols; Cutter Dozier; Ellie DeCuir; and Alena DeCuir; brother, Herman H. Neel, of Many, Louisiana; and sister, Juanita Jackson, of Shreveport, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Claudine Cryer; and great-granddaughter, Aspyn Fornols.

A gathering of Mr. Neel will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. An additional gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Siloam Baptist Church, 35432 Highway 191, Many, Louisiana. His interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery, Many, Louisiana.
