Sofia “Mima” Guzman
Sofia “Mima” Guzman, 91, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born on September 30, 1930, in Artemisa, Cuba, to Nieve and Faustino Alles.
Sofia left her family behind in Cuba to come to the United States. She helped her husband at the family gas station. Sofia kept numerous children for years. She was an excellent cook and housewife.
Survivors include her children, Angel Guzman and his wife, Trudy; Carlos Guzman and his wife, Carolyn; Maylin Guidry and her husband, Greg; Mark Guzman; and Allen Guzman and his wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Chantel Peña, and her husband, Jason; Taylor Massey and her husband, Dustin; Mathew Tweedel and his wife, Jennifer; and Grant Guzman; great-grandchildren, Sofia Massey; Camilla Massey; Harper Massey; Aubyn Tweedel; Adalynn Tweedel; and Decklyn Tweedel; and sister, Trina.
Sofia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Modesto Alberto Guzman; and sisters, Nina, Juanita, LeLe, and Nenita.
Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Guzman were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
To all of you my prayers are with you. We loved both of your parents so much. The day before Mia passed I made her her pork roast … I have been thinking a lot about her. I was crushed when I found out . Love all of you
Maylen, We were so sorry to hear of the death of your beautiful Mom. We know it is hard especially now during the holidays but remember she is reunited with your Dad in Heaven and they will always remain in your heart. You were a wonderful, loving and caring daughter.
