Stanley “Joyce” Trahan
Stanley Joyce Trahan, 83, of Wimberley, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Joyce was born on July 9, 1942, in Beaumont, Texas and was raised in Winnie, Texas. Joyce graduated in 1960 from East Chambers High School; proudly serving her class as Homecoming Queen and Miss ECC.
Joyce lived a life marked by devotion to family, lifelong learning, and service to others. Later in life, Joyce returned to college and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Lamar University. Joyce graduated from college at the age of 59; an accomplishment she was deeply proud of.
Joyce’s professional life included employment with Trinity Valley Telephone Company and Lamar University, followed by the pursuit of a calling she held dear to her heart -teaching special needs Pre-K students at East Chambers, and later, at Port Neches-Groves. During the time she worked at Lamar University, she also spent time caring for elderly residents of Winnie. She supported them physically and emotionally during the final stages of life when it was most needed.
When Joyce retired in 2010, she sold her home in Winnie and moved to Wimberley where she made her new home and became a member of the First Baptist Church.
Above all else, her greatest joy in life was her family-especially her beloved grandson, Taylor Trahan, who held a very special place in her heart.
Joyce is preceded in death by her only husband and love of her life, Gordon James Trahan; her sister, Nancy Stobart Alvarado; her father, George Stanley Stobart, Jr.; and her mother, Geraldine Crockett Stobart.
Joyce is survived by her son, Garrett Trahan; her son, Michael Trahan, wife Kelly Trahan; and grandson Taylor Trahan; her brother George Stanley Stobart Ill; her aunt, Billie Crockett; and her cousins, Lesley Stobart and Cindy Grimes; as well as many extended family members and friends -all of whom loved her dearly.
The Trahan Family
Flowers are always a wonderful gesture and would be greatly appreciated; however, the family would also like to suggest, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Joyce’s honor to Alzheimer’s Research.
A gathering of Mrs. Trahan’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with her Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
