Stephen “Gibby” Gibson

Stephen “Gibby” Gibson, 72, of Port Bolivar, died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston. He was born August 4, 1950, in Vidor, to Vera Beatrice Richards and George Elmer Gibson, Sr.

Stephen loved fishing, boating, the beach, and his B-52 aircraft. He enjoyed talking about his guns and helping others. He was a volunteer firefighter at Bolivar and served his country in the United States Airforce and was an aircraft mechanic and B-52 crew chief. Stephen was a member of the Southeast Texas Veterans Group. He loved his pets, especially his dog, Zeus, but most of all loved his family and friends.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Donna Jo Gibson; daughter, Kat Collins and her husband, Steven, of Titusville, Florida; son, George Gibson and his wife, Jewels, of Port Bolivar; grandchildren, Ronnie, Jacquelyne, Ashley, Sarah, and Tylor; brother, George Gibson and his wife, Dena, of League City; and nephews, Chad and Cody Gibson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Patricia Osburn.

A gathering of Mr. Gibson’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with his memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
