Steve Breen
Steve Breen, 80, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1944 to Helen Goldstien and Irving Breen.
Steve attended Junker Elementary, Dick Dowling Junior High, and was a Beaumont High School graduate with the class of 1963. He was employed by Beaumont Housing Authority for 27 years.
A man of many interests and lifelong collector of many things. Everything had a time and season along the way. Bottle caps, matchbooks, military patches, stamps, tools of all kinds, locks, keys, and more. His hobby in his final years was spent collecting cartridge brass at the Golden Triangle Gun Club. He was a regular fixture at Carmela’s, his favorite restaurant.
A great wit and dry sense of humor. He was a man with a kind, gentle soul; a friend to all he met. Spent many years on a daily walk down Phelan Blvd rain or shine and wore out several pairs of shoes over the years logging thousands of days and no telling how many miles. He had had a mind like a steel trap. Steve never forgot the date of an event-birthdays, anniversaries for all family living or past. A favorite uncle to his many nephews, grand-nephews, and nieces and grand-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Helen Breen.
Survivors include his brothers, D. Neil Breen and his wife, Susie, of Lakeway, Texas, and Harry M. Breen and his wife, Joyce, of Fairview, Texas, along with his many nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Breen may be made to Salvation Army, 2350 I-10 East, Beaumont, Texas 77703 or Temple Emanuel, 1120 Broadway, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
A graveside service for Mr. Breen will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Hebrew Rest Cemetery, 2219 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Steve will be missed so much and so often. We relied on his elephant memory countless times. If we needed a detail or fact from 50+ years ago, Steve would immediately know the answer. Even as he aged, he never forgot details. Steve was a team player and great sport when asked to do anything – even agreeing to go shopping and walking around the mall with Joyce and Linda. đŸ™‚
Steve never encountered a Mexican meal that he did not relish. All Mexican food, hit the spot. Harry and Neil, very sorry for this profound and painful loss. Steve knew he was loved immensely by you both.

I worked in the Fair Store Service Center when Steve co-managed the shipping department for several years before he went on to the BHA. He was very like-able and took his job very seriously.

Steve was a true friend of the Golden Triangle Gun Club, and his dedication to the club was unwavering. He was a familiar and welcome sight every day, diligently collecting brass and ensuring that our young competitors, had the resources they needed.
I always appreciated our conversations as the day ended. He was a valuable source of information about the range and a good listener. Steve will be deeply missed, and his contributions to the club will long be remembered.
He will be missed.
Neil:
We were so surprised and saddened to learn of Steve’s passing. Though we hadn’t seen him in many years, we loved our connection with the Breen family. We think of your mother with such fond memories.
Please know how sorry we are for your loss. Mindy and Jay Eisen
