Steven Bennett Schwaab

April 24, 1984 - January 5, 2026

Steven Bennett Schwaab, 41, of Beaumont, died Monday, January 5, 2026. He was born on April 24, 1984, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Tommie Jean Gilbert and Thomas Bennett Schwaab.

Steven was more than a paramedic—he was a devoted public servant and a true hero who spent his life caring for others. His greatest joy, however, was being a father to his son, Caleb, and creating memories with the people he loved most. Family meant everything to Steven, from treasured reunions in Tomahawk to the warmth of holiday celebrations shared together. He felt most at peace by the water, whether fishing, boating, or jet skiing, and he loved the simple freedom of long road trips. Hours at the gun range, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and time spent with those closest to him filled his life with purpose, laughter, and love. Steven’s legacy lives on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.

Survivors include his son, Caleb Schwaab; parents, Thomas and Sondra Schwaab of Beaumont; brother, Bryan Thomas Schwaab and his wife, Markeé, of Beaumont; sister, Hannah Leigh Johnson of Vinton; sister-in-law, Dawn Schwaab; nieces and nephews, Brentten Schwaab, Logen Schwaab and his wife, Jane, Cora Schwaab, Eva Schwaab, Greyson Johnson, and Beckett Johnson; grandmothers, Margie Gilbert and Numa Ackel; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and family who loved him across Texas, Louisiana, and Wisconsin.

Steven is preceded in death by his biological mother, Tommie Jean Gilbert; brother, Chad Allen Schwaab; brother-in-law, Joseph Dean Johnson; grandparents, Beverly Bennett, Donald Schwaab, Ida Mae Silva, and Tommy Gilbert.

Memorial contributions may be made to The 100 Club of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 3405, Beaumont, Texas 77704, a foundation that was close to Steven’s heart.

A gathering of Mr. Schwaab’s family and friends will begin 2:00 p.m., with his celebration of life at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
