Susie Lewis

September 14, 1940 - December 14, 2022

Susie Lewis was born in Anahuac, Texas, on September 14, 1940, to the late Albert Smith, Sr., and Corine Rivon. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Susie was loving, kind, and a hard worker. She worked many years at Winnie Medical Center, later to be named Riceland Medical Center. She retired from Riceland Medical Center in 2019 at seventy-nine years of age. Susie loved spending time amongst her family and friends, especially during the holidays. Susie will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Susie leaves to mourn her passing, a life-long partner, George Richardson, Jr.; two grandchildren, Juanika Christmas and husband, Kevin of Baytown and Anthony Williams and wife, Ericka of Dickerson; two brothers, Richard Smith and wife, Linda of Anahuac and Jon Wayne of Wallisville; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Susie is preceded in death by her father, Albert Smith, Sr.; mother, Corine Rivon; husband, Gilbert Lewis; daughter, Jeanetta Lavalais; son, Anthony Lewis; brothers, Hardie Humphrey, Elroy Humphrey, and Albert Smith, Jr.; sisters, Ellarstine Jones and Linda White.

A gathering of Mrs. Lewis’ family and friends will be 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2022, at John Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 306 Speights Road, Hankamer. Her interment to follow at Rivon Cemetery, Anahuac.

In this house of sadness, we wish to acknowledge with our sincerest gratitude, the outpouring of love, sympathy, and prayers we have received from our many friends, neighbors, and church family.
