Sybil Moore

May 10, 1931 - January 19, 2022

Sybil Moore, 90, of Austin, formerly of Nederland, passed away of natural causes Wednesday, January 19, 2022. She was born May 10, 1931 in Port Arthur to Felice and Lucius Cormier.

Sybil was a native of Southeast Texas but for the past 10 years was a resident of Austin to be closer to her daughter. Sybil and her late husband, Delton, lived in Nederland most of their lives. They began square dancing in 1976, and after five years they started round dancing. Sybil and Delton danced for 30 years together and taught round dancing for 25 years in Orange and Beaumont. Sybil was a fabulous cook, but her specialty was baking delicious treats for her family. She also loved dogs, especially Bambi, Roxie, and Shelley.

Survivors include her children, Paula Wilberger and husband, Mike, of Rhode Island; Rhonda Moore, of Austin; and Mike Moore and wife, Julie, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Robert Wilberger and Racheal Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Robert and Avery Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; devoted husband, Delton Moore; and brothers, Lucius Cormier, Jr. and Davis Cormier.

A gathering of Mrs. Moore’s family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Monday, January 24, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland, with her interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Moore may be made to The Southeast Texas Humane Society, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
