Thelma Read

Thelma Earline Read, 78, of Kountze, died Saturday, October 9, 2021.  She was born on October 30, 1942, in Kountze, to Thelma Carroll Ripka and Walter Ripka, Sr.

Survivors include her sons, Joe David Read, Sr. of Porter and Robert Read and his wife, Claudette, of Vidor; grandchildren, Chris Read, Joe David Read, Jr., Adam Wyatt, Justin Duke, Derek Read, Vance Read, and Lance Read; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Swearingen, Margaret Mangum, and Walter Ripka, Jr.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Read, Jr.; daughter, Johnnie Dianne Duke; and brother, Charles Ripka.

Mrs. Read’s committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee.
