Thomas Eugene Kirby
Thomas Eugene Kirby, 37, of Lumberton passed away, Sunday, May 4, 2025. He was born on May 22, 1987, in Mesa, Arizona, to Barbara Ash Raynsford and Ronald Gene Kirby. He was a United States Navy veteran.
Tom had one of the biggest hearts. He was so full of love. His first priority was his family. He was so in love with and devoted to his wife Jamie. He was a momma’s boy and his dad’s best friend. As a teenager he loved playing sports. Tom was a great wrestler and athlete as well as being academically gifted. This gift led to his amazing career as he served honorably as a Navy Nuke on the USS Enterprise CVN-65 and was on board for the ship’s final deployment. Tom loved video games and that is where he met his beautiful wife. He could also be found watching some documentary shows about space, ufo’s, history and military. He loved Star Wars and Star Trek and many more “geeky” things that made him Tom. As Tom would always say “May the fourth be with you.”
One of his favorite Captain Kirk’s quotes is “There’s no such thing as the unknown, only things temporarily hidden, or temporarily not understood.”
Survivors include his wife, Jamie Lynn Kirby; step-daughter, Kortlynn Dunn of Lumberton; father, Ronald Gene Kirby and his wife, Becky, of Gilbert, Arizona; mother, Barbara Ash Marcelonis and her husband, George J. Marcelonis, of Vernon, Arizona; sibling, Stephen Christopher Kirby of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Sophie Davis, Brooks Davis, Myles Davis, and Julie Dunn; grandparents, Ronald and Marta Kirby of Willcox, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara and Charles Raynsford; and aunt, Carol Raynsford.
