Thomas Joseph Burke

February 21, 1951 - October 9, 2025

Thomas Joseph Burke, 74, of Beaumont, died at home surrounded by loved ones Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born on February 21, 1951, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Mary Reeves and John Burke.

Tom grew up in New Jersey and moved to Beaumont with his parents and younger brother in 1971. He attended LSU where he met his wife of 50 years and graduated in 1973. He quickly adapted to the southern way of life.

Tom, a lifelong LSU sports fan, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always made time for his children and grandchildren and truly enjoyed being present at all the activities in which they were involved. Tom was involved in youth sports for 15 years, and memories of coaching the Beaumont Raiders Soccer Team were always close to his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Manning Burke; Children, Danny Burke and his wife, Laura, of Cove; Andrew Burke of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Emily Celli and her husband, Michael, of Beaumont; Sister, Kay Beck and her husband, Richard, of Freehold, New Jersey; Brothers, John Burke, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Bossier City, of Louisiana; and Richard Burke and his wife, Nancy, of Andover, Minnesota; and Grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Dylan, Daniel, and Alexis Burke.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ann Marie Burke.

A Gathering of Mr. Burke’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Friday October 17, 2025, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

    Tom was a great neighbor. He was also the ideal youth sports coach. He was patient, enthusiastic, and put the highest priority on good sportsmanship and respect for all. He was a very good person. He will be missed.

    I first met Tom in Kindergarten in Harrison School in Roselle. In Roselle Catholic High School we were was in religious discussion groups and on the track team. We remained in was on Facebook in the

    chat thread. He is already being missed deeply.
