Tom Shirley
Tom Shirley, of Nome, died Saturday March 13, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas, St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born December 9, 1932, in Cleveland, Texas, to Tom Shirley and Lida Hines Shirley.
Tom served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio and Korea. While in San Antonio, he married Melba McFerrin, who was also in the Air Force, in 1953. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Nome and retired from Goodyear Chemical in Beaumont after thirty years. Tom enjoyed working on old cars and was always willing to help neighbors in their time of need.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Shirley; and a sister, Dana Manuel.
Survivors include his wife, Melba, of Nome; three children, Lloyd Shirley and wife, Kristin, of Nome; Thomas Shirley and wife, Kay, of Wake Village; and Melinda Shirley of Spring; three grandchildren, Amy Abshier, Megan Griffin, and Macy Shirley; and sisters, Virginia Perry and Mary Brodie.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at China Cemetery, China, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
