Tracey Paul Thomassee
Tracey Paul Thomassee slipped away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by love with his wife and sisters. Cancer had darkened his door for a second time at 54, and this time, there was no beating it back.
Tracey was born and raised in the Anahuac area, graduating from Anahuac High School in 1989. He was a force to be reckoned with on the field and in the halls. As one friend noted, he possessed a mix of cockiness and a belief in himself that made people stop and take notice.
He loved playing golf, raising a beer with friends, feeding his family, and putting on a feast for holidays. He also wasn’t afraid to stare down adversity in his personal or professional life. After spending years in the safety field, he took a turn with Kathy managing a busy bar and restaurant before spending his last working years as an entrepreneur with a friend running Anahuac Transport. Though he may have been fearless at work, let’s just say that it was his wife Kathy that scared away any mice, snakes, or Heaven forbid opossums, from the yard.
His principles were resolute; he wasn’t one to mince words. As a loyal friend, he offered words of support, encouragement, and when needed, a kick in the pants. As a family man, he stood tall as the patriarch. He didn’t shy away from responsibility and acted as a role model for others who lacked male leadership in their own lives.
Above all, he was a good man. He found the love of his life in Kathy. He loved his children unconditionally. He handled his business relationships with honesty and friendship. In a world that seems out of focus and without direction, he was unwaveringly true to himself and did his utmost to guide his family towards the right path.
Tracey is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Beverly Thomassee. His passing answers his siblings’ long-standing game of who is mom’s favorite, because Beverly called him home first. He leaves behind his beloved wife Kathryn Chapman Thomassee, children Blake Thomassee, Kali Thomassee, Tyler Chapman (Alexis), and Jeri Chapman, siblings Mandi Doucet (Keith) and Brandi Brown, grandchildren Kinzington, Saylor, Chase, and Suttyn, a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family, and his chosen brothers Cliff Sedtal and Rusty Rakestraw.
A gathering of friends and family for Tracey will begin at 2:00p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00 p.m., April 4, 2025, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
