Travis Aldrich
Robert Travis Aldrich, of Nome, Texas, went home to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, far too soon, on Saturday, July 19, 2025. His precious wife, Brittany, was by his side. He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart and wife of 18 years, Brittany Aldrich; his beloved and cherished daughters Ava and angel in Heaven, Mia; his mother, Candice Brittain Aldrich; father, Robert Aldrich and wife, Peggy; and sister, Courtney Hager and husband, Preston; and nephews, Hunter and Case.
Brittany and Travis shared an incredible love and passion for one another that most can only imagine. Travis invited Brittany to their 8th grade Valentine Dance, and from that moment on, the two were inseparable. Voted “cutest couple” during their senior year, they were full of all the exuberance life can offer. Travis was always “the life of the party”, and Brittany adoringly laughed and was many times the center of his pranks which she always took like a “champ”. Brittany was Travis’ biggest fan as she cheered and supported him, playing basketball, football, and baseball. Brittany quickly fell in love with the country life that was so deeply rooted in Travis’ heart and soul. Travis taught Brittany to hunt, fish, gig frogs, and go mudding on the back roads of the Aldrich Farm and Ranch. Together they checked on the cows, turf farm and any other aspect of Travis’ business needing attention. These two best friends and soulmate’s relationship was firmly established in their love for their Lord, their families and their love for one another. Very rarely was one seen without the other.
On June 2, 2007, both of their dreams came true when they married one another at Wesley Methodist Church witnessed by family and friends. Although, their wedding was certainly one of the greatest highlights of their lives, nothing compared to the birth of their daughter, Ava Ranae, on February 12, 2010. She became the center of the world for Travis and Brittany. Travis was a hands-on dad from the beginning, and as soon as Ava could walk, she rode with him to the pastures to check and feed the cows eventually establishing her own herd and brand. Academically, Travis encouraged Ava to be the very best of students. He recognized her abilities and inspired her to use them, all the while, Giving God the Glory. Travis and Brittany spent countless hours in the Nome Gym, and later HJ Jr. High and High School, cheering on Ava playing basketball, and volleyball. Travis strongly believed Ava should be involved in school activities, and with Brittany’s guidance, she became a member of Student Council and was invited to be a member of Leadership. Travis was “busting his buttons” with fatherly pride when, this summer Ava attended Leadership Workshop in Corpus Christi, and although he and Brittany missed her as much as she missed them, she was successful in overcoming her homesickness and had a productive week. These accomplishments filled Travis with so much joy. Like her parents, Ava developed a passion for fishing. Many hours were spent on Sabine Lake with Travis assuring all, he would catch the first fish, the largest fish and challenging everyone to step up their fishing game. Travis was adamant Ava have the best of the best fishing equipment. This year for Christmas, Travis selected a custom rod and reel, and as Travis commented, “to make fishing more competitive”! Travis’ passion for deer hunting also became Brittany’s and Ava’s. Opening day of deer season was like the first day of Christmas for the Aldrich fam. On opening day, the family patiently waited in the stand for the first deer to appear, but not without Travis reminding “his” girls to “SHHH” and watch for deer!
From the time he could walk, Travis woke early, drank coffee milk with his Mamaw Aldrich, and then rode the fields with his Grandfather R.C. and his dad, checking the growth of the rice and soybeans, and putting out hay for the cows and feeding the horses. He thrived on sitting in his dad’s lap, “thinking” he was driving the combine while cutting rice. The country was Travis’ proverbial playground. He played outside constantly riding go-carts with Courtney and cousins, shooting his BB gun, and swimming in the canal. Travis looked forward to the yearly family beach trip with the Aldrich’s and yearly summer Inks Lake trip with the Brittain’s. Gran and Grandaddy Brittain hosted these family camping trips, that included boating, jet skiing, and knee boarding, but the real highlight of the vacation was for Travis to jump off the 30-foot cliff at Devil’s Hole. After completing his first jump, he couldn’t wait to jump again and again. Over the years he taught many of his cousins to accomplish the feat even giving Brittany and Courtney the courage to climb the 30-foot cliff and jump in the deep blue waters of Devil’s Hole. His mom, Candy, always watched Travis’ antics through one eye closed.
After graduating from Hardin Jefferson High School, Travis entered Lamar University and after one semester he was needed by his grandfather and father to run the family business. As a 4th generation farmer and cattle rancher; he immediately stepped into the role that became his lifelong profession. He loved this life with a passion. The family then added an additional division of the business, G and A Turf. Travis worked diligently to grow this business, always searching for new varieties of turf and caring for his customers. He took pride in showing off the many homes he had landscaped all over the area and Crystal Beach; he was meticulous in his work and quick to humorously point out that certain lawns needed more nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium, or needed manicuring. Travis was as passionate about his work, as he was about life itself.
Cattle, horse and dogs were an integral part of Travis’ life. Growing, harvesting and storing hay for the winter was essential to the cow calf operation he and his dad ran. Although he was thrown from his horse multiple times, always the ultimate cowboy, he might lie on the sofa for a half day and declare he was “just fine” and ready to go back to work. His latest dog, black labrador, Cruz, was a “character” just like his owner; Travis trained Cruz to be his “ride or die”.
Travis could not have made it through his workday without his “right hand man” Pablo. These two had a relationship that transcended friendship. Travis was a mentor to him, but they have a brotherly love of one another that is forever.
One could tell Travis was a Christian and a servant of our Lord by the look on his face and spirit in his eyes. Travis read his Bible daily and was currently reading The Three Ordinary Voices of God. Travis had taken it upon his heart to serve his Lord by serving the homeless and hungry in Beaumont. For the past 5 years, he and his family and mom, would serve the hungry at “Some Other Place” on Christmas Day. Travis had a two-fold reason for his random act of kindness; of course, the first being to love and serve his Lord, but additionally he wanted to lead his family by example and teach Ava that a true Christian has a servant’s heart.
Travis was a large man with a “larger than life presence”. His spirit and presence filled the room when he entered, and he exuded a joy for life that was undeniable. Surprisingly down to earth, Travis genuinely cared for all, and his curiosity led him to find the simple things in life to be so interesting and an opportunity to learn. He was an adventurer, and the stories he shared regarding these adventures, which always included Brittany and Ava, provided family and friends with belly- aching laughter.
As a 4th generation farmer, rancher and cowboy, Travis lived by a code of ethics including, love God and family first, live each day with courage and pride, ride for the brand, -Anchor T-, do what has to be done and make sure it is completed, when you make a promise keep it and always remember, some things are “NEVER” (like the family home, farm and ranch) for sale.
Robert Travis is survived by wife, Brittany; daughter, Ava; parents, Robert and Candice; sister, Courtney and husband, Preston; and nephews, Hunter and Case.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, angel in Heaven, Mia Ann and grandparents, R.C. and Loretta Aldrich and Floyd and Shirley Brittain.
Additionally, he is survived by father-in-law, Louis Borne; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lance and Stephanie Fox; sisters-in-law, Emily McKean and husband, Cody, Missy Thomas and husband, Garret, and Meagan and Sydney Borne; brother-in-law, Ross Fox and wife, Kayla; and grandmother-in-law, Betty Coco. Travis also has multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him.
Pallbearers include Preston Hager, Ross Fox, Cody McKean, Pablo Cruz, Heath Brittain, Harrison Gray, Garrett Thomas, Caden McCarson, Cade Broussard, and Jamichael Semien.
