Vernis Bourque
Vernis Francois Bourque “Frency”, 82, of Beaumont, went to meet his Lord, Tuesday, April 30, 2018.
Frenchy was born on October 10, 1935, in Erath, Louisiana, to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bourque. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1953 and enlisted in the United States Army for two years and the United States Air Force for six years. He raised a family and worked at various industries in Amarillo, Texas, and ultimately retired as an environmental supervisor at the Michael DeBakey Veterans Hospital in Houston. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. While in Amarillo, he was active in the Palo Duro Canyon Masonic Lodge, where he served as Grand Master.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bourque; children, Toni Bourque La Grone of Nederland; Kevin Bourque of Cypress, Texas; and Tracy Bourque and Rondala Dubose and her husband, Michael, all of Amarillo; stepchildren, Joe Curtino III and his wife, Melinda of Fulshear, Texas; Laurie Ivy and her husband, Marty, of Harker Heights, Texas; Karyn Holt and her husband, Gregory, of Anchorage, Alaska; and David Curtino of Friendswood; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, sister, Glenna Trahan and her husband, Lawrence, of Panama City, Florida; brother, Jerry Everett and his wife, Nell, of New Braunfels, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Mr. Bourque’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service of his cremated body will be held at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, at a later date. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
Mr. Bourque has requested memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706; or to the charity of your choice.
