Vicki Nielsen

January 20, 1966 - September 20, 2021

Victoria Marie Damers “Vicki” Nielsen, 55, of Nederland, passed away after a battle with Covid-19 Monday, September 20, 2021, at Houston Methodist Hospital. She was born on January 20, 1966, in Denver, Colorado, to Yvonne Padilla and Raul Damers.

Vicki was the oldest of six siblings. She was born with a natural instinct to care and nurture which started with helping raise her siblings. She was born to a strong independent mother who helped as many people as she could and so did Vicki. Vicki was beautiful inside and out and had an angelic singing voice. Besides caring for her family and loved ones, singing was her passion.

Vicki was a woman of strong faith and had a positive outlook on life. She was always happy and could always find the bright side of things. She was the one that her family and friends would call to seek advice and she was always available with an unjudging love. Vicki knew exactly who was in charge of her life and would always say that Heavenly Father always took care of her.

Vicki resided in Nederland for most of her life. She graduated from West Brooke High School and married David Crawford. They had a home filled with laughter and love. She and David had two daughters, Heather and Holly. Vicki was a wonderful wife and mother to their children. She was always supportive of the sports and activities they were a part of and could always be heard from the sidelines cheering loud and proud.

Vicki and David divorced, and she was a single mom for a few years until she met her eternal companion, Alan Nielson. They were married October 9, 2010, in the temple of The Latter-Day Saints of Jesus Christ, Houston.

Vicki gave birth to another beautiful daughter, Hope, in 2011, completing her family. She and Alan raised Hope to be very outgoing and loving. Heather and Holly were much older than Hope. They loved their new baby sister, and she became the “youngest” aunt in the family.

Vicki owned Pegasus Courier Service in Nederland. She and Alan together made this business an integral part of their lives. She enjoyed owning the business because it meant that she could always have Hope with her, and she was always at home or on the road for work with her.

Vicki loved and lived life with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, following and attending all childhood sporting events, school activities, and achievement ceremonies. Vicki always had time for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Alan Nielsen; mother, Yvonne Padilla; children, Heather Alvis and husband, Lake; Holly Olvera and husband, Victor; and Hope Nielsen; grandchildren, Emmett; Aubrey; Harvey; Charlene; Skyler; Brenna; Vanessa; and Willow; siblings, Michael Damers; Chris Lindbergh; Elizabeth Damers; Katherine Damers; and Patricia Young; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends whom she loved.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raul Damers; grandfather, Blasé Padilla; and grandmother, Lucy Barela.

A gathering of Mrs. Nielsen’s family and friends will begin 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3939 Turtle Creek Drive, Port Arthur. Daws Family says:

We have such sweet memories of Vicki. She was our sons first teacher in primary, she often had him in her lap… with snacks close by. As the years went by, we would see her at birthday parties, and church activities. She always had the biggest smile. Sending love and prayers to her sweet family.
