Virginia Gail Nerren

February 19, 1942 - May 10, 2023

Virginia Gail Nerren, 81, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023.  She was born on February 19, 1942, in Silsbee, to Willrie Nettie Bell Carnley and Andrew Howard Carnley.

Virginia spent her entire life working and serving in Silsbee. After graduating from Silsbee High School in 1960, she was a bank teller for Silsbee State Bank. Virginia then married the love of her life on October 22, 1964, at First Baptist Silsbee. She was a lifetime member working as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Virginia worked as a buyer & bookkeeper for Earl Nerren’s Men’s Store, which was in downtown Silsbee. In 1990 Virginia began working as an aide and secretary for Silsbee ISD where she later retired in 2010.

Virginia loved walking, fishing, birds, flowers & gardening.  Earl says she was “excellent at everything she did”. She loved being a mom to Shannon and a grandmother to the girls and her twins. Although Alzheimer’s stole moments and time away from those she loved, it never diminished the love she had for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Nerren; son, Shannon Nerren and his wife, Sheri, of Rockwall; grandchildren, Kristen Franks, Kelsey Franks, Kyle Nerren, and Kayleigh Nerren; siblings, Donald Carnley and his wife, Geraldine, of Lumberton; Judy Dibala and her husband, Wally, of Houston; and Jerry Carnley of Silsbee. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Nerren’s memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church,  350 US 96 Business, Silsbee.

Sincere condolences to your family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May God provide the necessary peace and comfort to your family and friends during this difficult time. Please remember these words of encouragement from the Bible: “ Jesus plainly told her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” —John 11:20-25.
