W.D. “Bill” Taylor

March 7, 1935 - June 25, 2024

W.D. “Bill” Taylor, 89, of Hamshire, died Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1935, in Madisonville, to Beatrice and L.L. Taylor.

Bill was the patriarch and backbone of the family. He was a guiding figure and support for all he encountered. He was a pastry chef and loved making breakfast for anyone around—his pancakes and biscuits were a family favorite. Bill enjoyed nature and lived a life amongst it—whether ranching, gardening, fishing, or shrimping, he could always be found outdoors. He spent many years in the plant industry as a process operator eventually retiring from Mobil Oil. He is remembered as a father figure to all those in the family and his memory and impact live on.

Survivors include his granddaughter and eventual pillar of support, Kaylee Gayle Sims of Hamshire; son, William Taylor, of Hamshire; grandson, Dustin Lee Taylor of Irving; nieces, Wendy Clubb, Linda Clubb Vidrine, Misty Clubb and Deanna Riggs; nephew, Barry Clubb; great-nephew, Jesse Arceneaux; great-niece, Amber Arceneaux; and a host of other relatives, friends, and chosen family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora Clubb Taylor; and daughter, Teresa Gayle Taylor.

A gathering of Mr. Taylor’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Broussard Cemetery, Fannett. Following the interment service, a reception will be held at Wendy Clubb’s residence, 8120 Oakdale Drive, Beaumont (Fannett), 77705.

    I just learned of Bill’s passing. I’ll never forget him. He was a great co-worker and a straight shooter. I always enjoyed bumping into him after he retired. He always had good stories to tell. If you didn’t know him well, you’d think he was a little grumpy, but he had a kind heart, and it was obvious he was a dedicated family man. I’ll miss him.
