Wanda Morgan

September 25, 1953 - September 19, 2024

Wanda Morgan, 70, of Sour Lake, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born on September 25, 1953, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Jeannie Spicer Wahl and Leroy Wahl.

Wanda and Keith Morgan were married almost 50 years, beginning March 15, 1975, in Beaumont, Texas. Wanda was the definition of home. She loved her family dearly and made anyone who was in her presence feel warm and welcome with her big smile and contagious laugh. She had a special place in her heart for children and helped shaped the lives of many while teaching for over a decade. Her family was her biggest passion, and she enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren most of all. Wanda was very outgoing, loved traveling and was always up for an adventure, especially enjoyed the beach and fishing with her dad. She loved taking long walks, gardening and making her famous apple pie. She will be forever missed by all that knew and loved her.

Proverbs 31:26

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 31:31

“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

As I Sit in Heaven (unknown author)

As I sit in heaven and watch you everyday,

I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.

I hear you when you’re laughing, and watch you as you lay your head down to sleep.

I even place my arms around you to calm you as you weep.

I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home.

So I try to send you signs so you know you are not alone.

Don’t feel guilty that you have life that was denied to me.

Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.

So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, and be free.

Then I know with every breath you take,

You’ll be taking one for me.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Morgan; daughters, Carrie S. Maggard of Pearland, and Christy M. George of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Lauren, Brennan, Blake, and Jackson Maggard, all of Pearland; and Kaydance and Kennedy Van Horn of Sour Lake.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Dowlen Oaks for their care and compassion.
