William “Bill” Colley
William “Bill” Colley, 97, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025. He went to Heaven to be with His Lord and Savior. Born January 1, 1928, in Clintwood, Virginia, to his beloved parents, Martha Cockram and Effrom Colley. Bill was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, as well as the Merchant Marines and Army, for a span totaling twenty-six years.
Serving in church in diverse capacities including being a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and singing in the choir, sharing his faith was a passion of his, especially through songs. He enjoyed sitting in his chair with the sunshine shining and birds chirping, singing and embracing the Lord’s creation.
Preceded in death by his parents and thirteen brothers and sisters, Bill is survived by his loving wife, Della Lora Colley, of seventy-two years. Other survivors include the following: three daughters, Gloria Jeanie Youngblood, and her husband, Bennie A. Jr., of Beaumont; Donna Sue Farley, and her husband, Joe, of Hurricane, West Virginia; and Teresa Ann Potter and her husband, Shawn, of Beaumont; seven grandchildren, Alicia Dawn Colley; Joshua Allen Youngblood and his wife; Christina Michelle Farley; Brandon Shawn Farley and his wife, Alison; James Matthew Potter and his wife, Jessica; Lora Anne Potter; and Shawn Michael Potter and his wife, Chrissy; thirteen great-grandchildren, Christian, Mackenzie, Jaden, Matti Jo, Parker, Codi, Wyatt, Ethan, Taylor, Nadya, Nikolai, and two additional great-grandchildren; along with numerous loved ones, friends, and extended family throughout the years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of HCA hospital in Houston, Texas, Kate Dishman Rehabilitation Hospital and Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital 5 South Med-Surg floor for all their generous care. An extra gracious thank you to Altus Hospice for exuding true comfort and compassionate care. The staff, including his nurses Mikey RN and Shay RN, was phenomenal. True meaning of the Lord’s Hands and Feet.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306 or give online, or to a church ministry of one’s choice.
A gathering of Mr. Colley’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Broussard’s, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
