William “Billy” Manuel

October 25, 1952 - December 1, 2021

Billy Manuel, 69, of Winnie, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was born, October 25, 1952, to Nola Myers Manuel and Mack Joseph Manuel, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Growing up he enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and sports. He graduated from Terrebonne High School, in Houma, La, where his passion was playing baseball.

Billy worked pipeline construction for Winnie Welding Works for over 30 years. He loved cooking and will be remembered for his Cajun fried turkeys and gumbo. He never met a stranger. He spent countless hours in his outdoor kitchen and if you knew Billy, you knew that’s where you could find him. Billy enjoyed Cajun music, Braves baseball, and yardwork. He loved having all the family together and especially spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time, you would find him in the barn caring for the animals.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, pawpaw, and friend.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Barbara Manuel, of Winnie; daughters, Daniela Racca of Winnie; Shawn Manuel and her partner, Aimee McMillion of Dallas; sons, Alton Racca and his wife, Amy, and Amos Racca and his wife, Sherry, both of Winnie; grandchildren, Chloe Lewis and her husband, Shawn, of Winnie; Kylor Wilber and his wife, Shelbie, of Lumberton; Daniel, Gabby, Lilly, Jayda, Jude, and Matthew; great grandchildren, Tinley and Laelyn Wilber; mother, Nola Manuel of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Lynn Manuel of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Elaine LaVergne and her husband, Mike, of Lake Charles, LA; Renee Moore and her husband, Richard, of Choupique, LA; Lori Lowe and her husband, John, of Winnie; Doris Mudd of Holmwood, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Billy is preceded in death by his father, Mack Joseph Manuel and brother-in-law, Greg Mudd.

Mr. Manuel’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, 51050 Stivers Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
