August 17, 1983 - February 22, 2020

William “Billy” Sims, Jr., 36, of Groves, died Saturday, February 22, 2020, at his residence. He was born August 17, 1983, in Nederland, to Ornell Poche’ Sims and William Thomas Sims, Sr.

Billy grew up in Port Acres and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 2002. He was a certified welder by trade and was employed at Team Fabricators LLC, Port Arthur for fourteen years. He was a member of Pipe Fitters Local Union #211. Billy enjoyed spending his time off fishing with his dad and friends or cooking. He would spend all day in the kitchen preparing and cooking. He loved to share his meal with others and was always pleased with the compliments of a well-done dinner.

Billy was a sweet caring soul that longed to help anyone in need. He loved his family, friends, and his loyal dog, “Kush”, with all he had. He was the type of man that always greeted us and left us with a strong hug and a sincere, “I love you.” He will be forever loved and missed.

Survivors include his parents, Ornell and William Sims; sister, Tara Sims Morgan and her husband, Clayton, all of Port Arthur; brothers, Tommy Sims and his wife, Jamie, of Lumberton and Seth Sims and his wife, Diana, of Fannett; nieces and nephews, Lilly, Caleb, Tanner, Lexie, Ethan, Dylan, and Brantley; and grandmother, Fran Barksdale, of Nederland.
