Wilma Arlene Metreyeon Eddy
Wilma Arlene Metreyeon Eddy, 85, of Beaumont, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Wilma was a firm believer in God and was comforted by her faith and family.
Wilma was born on November 2, 1938, in Tarkington Prairie, to Bessie Viola Coker and Johnnie Earsel Coker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland where she often met with her Sunday School Class for activities. She graduated in 1957 from Nederland High School and enjoyed meeting up with her graduating classmates often. Wilma retired from Lamar University. She was also involved for many years with the Red Hat Society, as well as various community activities. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, puzzles, playing dominoes with her friends every week, fishing, painting, and cooking.
Above all else, Wilma loved her family. She took every opportunity to talk about them and loved spending time with everyone together, especially around the holidays. Baking from scratch with her grand and great-grandchildren was one of her favorite things. Teaching them to bake her favorite recipes and passing them on was something everyone enjoyed.
Wilma is survived by her sons, Terry Metreyeon and wife, Peggy, David Metreyeon and wife, Melissia, Gary Metreyeon, Jerry Eddy and wife, Kenda, Cliff Eddy and wife, Terry, and Ronnie Eddy and wife, Talisha; grandchildren, Caleb and Sarah Phillips, Daniel and Danielle Metreyeon, Christopher and Klacy Metreyeon, Jason and Laura Patterson, Jordan and Bethaney Waldrep, Dillon and Maggie Copeland, Dustin Metreyeon, Chloe Metreyeon, Andrew and Baily Herbst, Brayden Berry, Adam Eddy, Clint and Jillian Peery, Ashley Eddy, Lakin Eddy, and Haven Eddy; great-grandchildren, Logan, Easton, Hudson, Tucker, Jensen, Tilley, Harper, Hazel, Everly, Wrenly, Marshall, Spencer, Rowyn, Amelia, Sage, Blair, Ripton, and arriving soon, Ruth; sister-in-law, Rossie Coker; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, James Elray Metreyeon; late husband, Ted Eddy; brother, Kenneth Coker; brother-in-law, Joe Clayton; sister-in-law, Willie Sue Clayton; granddaughter, Ashton Eddy; and great-grandson, Boston Peery.
A gathering of Mrs. Eddy’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
