Wilson B. “Ben” Brinson
Wilson B. “Ben” Brinson, age 93, of Lumberton, TX, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas lovingly surrounded by family.
Ben was born August 14, 1931, in Beaumont, Texas to John M. Brinson and Maggie Collins Brinson. He attended French Independent School and graduated from Beaumont High School in May 1950. A proud Korean War veteran, Ben served in the United States Air Force, where he found great purpose in aircraft maintenance.
On September 6, 1997, Ben married Jackie Bayless Brinson, and they shared many happy years together until her passing in February 2020. Their marriage was filled with joy, frequent visits with family and friends, and travel adventures in their RVs during their early years of marriage.
Ben was a man of many interests and talents. He especially loved woodworking, assembling intricate puzzles, reading, painting, and building model aircraft. His craftsmanship lives on in many cherished family creations, including festive holiday yard decorations, a rideable toddler-sized toy airplane, a wooden meal tray still in use today, and more. His family will always remember his meticulous attention to detail—especially evident in the perfectly wrapped Christmas presents he was famous for.
A longtime resident of Lumberton, Ben was also a loving father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Remaining to cherish Ben’s memory are stepson and daughter-in-law John Bayless and Stephanie Bayless, children Barry Brinson and Elizabeth Wahl, daughter-in-law Lisa Bayless, grandchildren Cole Bayless, Monika Vider, Daniel Wahl, Morgan Bayless Brushaber and her husband Austin Brushaber, Garrett Peters and his wife April Peters, and great-grandchild June Brushaber.
Preceding Ben in death are spouse Jackie Bayless Brinson, daughter Connie Brinson, stepson Curby Martin Bayless, parents John M. Brinson and Maggie Collins Brinson, and sisters Irene Melancon and Margie Hall.

You were one of my absolute favorite patrons at Lumberton Public Library. I really missed visiting with you when I left for North Texas. I can still see you and hear your voice. You were one of a kind! May you rest in peace.
