Matthew Thomas Peterson
Matthew Thomas “Matt” Peterson, 54, of Beaumont, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born on September 19, 1963, in Fort Riley, Kansas, to Sandra and Thomas R. Peterson, of Fremont, Nebraska, and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont. Matt retired from the United States Coast Guard after twenty years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a former Executive Director with Atria Collier Park and later retired as Food and Beverage Director for the MCM Eleganté Hotel.
Matt is survived by his wife, Shana Peterson; son, Caleb M. Peterson; and daughter, Allison Peterson, all of Beaumont; sister, Anne Robb and her husband, Mike; nephew, Alex Robb; and niece, Lucy Robb, all of Duluth, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Decondia Swilley, of Beaumont; his first wife, Jill Wiebusch and her husband, Kenny, of Sour Lake; and his beloved dog, Betsy.
A gathering of Mr. Peterson’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704.

Here we are in 2022 and I’m just now learning of Matt’s passing. We served on the Willow I was a first class DC. Matt was a great guy liked by all, rest easy brother.
