Sandra Ann Bivens, 74, of Kountze, died Saturday, November 8, 2025. She was born on April 6, 1951, in Hayward, California, to Lavergne Claire Wehmeier Vasquez and Martin Vasquez. Sandra Bivens moved to Texas in August 2000 on a one-way trip to finally meet the love of her life and biggest pain, Sonny Bivens. She was a woman of God and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally. Sandra spent most of her time caring for her husband and family. She met her best friend, Jeanne Wismer, at the nursing home where they would share laughs, tears, and many stories about their families. Her favorite being about her babies. Henry Alfred “Kit” Copeland, Jr., 77, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, October 1, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1948, in Sour Lake, to Lina Faye “Sweet” Attaway Copeland and Henry Alfred Copeland, Sr. Kit proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Thailand, in support of the Vietnam War in the late 60’s. After completing his military service, Kit went on to be a Process Operator and retire at Goodyear plant in Beaumont. Sally Pitts Gieseke was born in Beaumont, on January 24, 1938. She died in her home in Kountze on September 28, 2025, when she went to be with Jesus. Sally’s parents were Garnette Northcott and Llewellyn William “Skeet” Pitts. After World War II started, her father, an architect, joined the Navy and was assigned to duty in Washington, D.C. After the war, the family returned to Beaumont, where Sally attended Averill School, Dick Dowling Junior High School, and Beaumont High School, graduating in 1956. She attended SMU for two years, then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin for two years. The bureaucracy there held up her diploma for almost thirty years. Sally was married to high school classmate Jim Stokes in 1961, between his graduation from West Point and his assignment to Germany. Freddie Mae Gieger, 86, of Buna, died, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1938, in Saratoga, to Ruby Marcontell Gieger and Fred Gieger. She dedicated twenty-seven years of service to the Hardin County Tax Office, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 1991 stepping down as Chief Deputy Officer of the Tax Office. She was a member of Genesis Baptist Church in Buna. Known for her reliability, integrity, and kindness, she made lasting impression on her coworkers and community. Norris Melvin Eason, Jr., 67, of Thicket, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025. He was born on December 26, 1957, in Houston, to Mary Helen Collins Eason and Norris Melvin Eason, Sr. Norris was a loving husband of 44 years to Terrie; they shared so many happy memories throughout their marriage but also shared some of the worst heart aches a parent could ever imagine. He was a loving father who lost his son way too soon. But now he is rejoicing in the embrace of his beloved son watching over us. Johnny Lee Fillingim, 65, of Port Arthur died, Friday, June 27, 2025. He was born on April 21, 1960, in Kountze, to Alberta Presley Fillingim and Herman Fillingim. Johnny lived in the Hardin County area his whole life. He loved to fish and hunt. He also liked to watch the Syfy channel and the local weather on TV. He was a faithful member of Little Rock Assembly of God Church where he was an usher. He never failed to give an offering and he loved being with his church family, never missing unless he was sick. Hubert Craig Bonner, 70, of Nome, Texas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 15, 1954, in Beaumont to Louis and Dauphine Bonner. From a young age, his parents instilled his commitment to family, work ethic, and integrity. He grew up working on his family’s rice farm and cattle operation with his father. During his college years at Sam Houston State University, Craig farmed rice of his own. He could often be seen around the farm in his Red International Case tractors, which he was a big fan of. After retiring from Transco/Williams Gas Pipeline, he spent lots of time in west Texas hunting and at the lake house fishing at Sam Rayburn. Jack Ed Morris went to be with the Lord on May 28th, 2025. He passed peacefully at his home in Warren, Texas with his wife of thirty-nine years close by his side. He was born on February 20th, 1954, to parents Mildred Marie Smith Morris and Joseph Alfred Morris in Cushing, Oklahoma; but always joked that he “got to Texas as fast as he could”. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas and then pursued further education to become an automotive and diesel mechanic. He worked for Southern Pacific Lines and later Union Pacific Railroad for a total of thirty-four years. Morris Nickles Louviere, 88, of Mauriceville, died Friday, May 16, 2025. He was born on December 6, 1936, in Sour Lake to Lucy Walker and Didies James “DJ” Louviere. While living most of his life in Sour Lake, he loved spending time at the beach, on the water with his friends, and a fishing pole in his hand. He always said “There isn’t a place more peaceful than sitting in a boat on the water.” Morris loved everyone and never met a stranger. Mary Ellen Frazier (nee Merwin), a woman of deep love, rich memory and enduring grace, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy steeped in family, friendship and faith. Dolores Mae Dahl Anderson, 95, of Kountze, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2025. She was born May 30,1929 in Parsons, Kansas, to Verdie Dahl and Theodore Reuben Dahl, Sr. Dolores and the Dahl family moved to Texas when she was thirteen. They settled in the Little Rock community where the Little Rock Assembly of God Church became an important part of their lives. Dolores loved to sing and often sang solos in church. Later she sang with her dad, who was the song leader, and other family members. Some of their favorite songs were several that her dad had written. Dolores was a longtime member of the church and was very active in church activities. She was known for her great desserts at church socials and grilled cheese sandwiches after Sunday night services. Marvin Robbie Fannin, 90, of Village Mills, died Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born on January 14, 1935, in Corsicana, to Vesta Bell Trammell Fannin and Marvin Batson Fannin. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Marvin loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. Through his strong faith in Jesus, he shared Christ’s love with everyone who knew him. For over 50 years, Marvin was a devoted member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He humbly served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Trustee, and on many church committees. Harold Roy Woodrom Sr, age 88, of Wildwood, Texas, left his earthly home to enter heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday evening, March 29, 2025. His death was peaceful, and he was surrounded by his three loving children and devoted and beautiful wife of nearly 44 years, Marilyn. Harold was born in Port Neches, Texas to Ola Blanche George Woodrom and Bethel Sylvester Woodrom on January 29, 1937. Survivors include her children, Katrina Waldrop of Louisiana; Paul Payne and his wife, Holly, of Silsbee; Robert Turner of Honey Island; Jimmy Turner of Bridge City; Tommy Toronjo and his wife, Kristy, of Kountze; Misti Turner of Warren; and Tara Priest and her husband, Danny, of Lumberton; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Dr. Thomas Riley and his wife, Dr. Bonnie Riley, of Naples Florida; Catherine Morvant of Georgetown; and Patricia Mullin and her husband, Mike, of Canton. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Charles Riley. Lydia “Pee Wee” Virginia Hybarger, 99, of Kountze, died Monday, January 13, 2025. She was born on March 27, 1925, in Poplarville, Mississippi, to Viola and Edgar Chadwick. Lydia Virginia “Pee Wee” Hybarger was a woman of many names. She was known as Lydia “Lydee” to her family and “Pee Wee” or Virginia to her friends. Yet, regardless of the name we used, everyone knew her by her feisty character and caring heart. Pee Wee was born in Poplarville, Mississippi and raised in Slidell, Louisiana. She met and married Lester Hybarger from Beaumont, Texas on February 22, 1943. They settled in Beaumont and she worked for Shelton’s Drive Inn where she acquired her nickname, “Pee Wee.” In June 1960, Pee Wee and Lester moved from South Park in Beaumont to Kountze where Lester opened a paint and body shop and shortly after built Frostyland for his wife.
