Charles Irving Hudson, aka “Buck”, was born on October 28, 1963, to Pauline Susan “Sue” Hudson and Charles Alva Hudson. He passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026, after a fourteen year long battle with cancer. He attended Spurger High School where he graduated valedictorian of his class. Buck continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education, with an emphasis in forestry and horticulture. He was an agriculture educator for thirty years in the districts of Silsbee, Woodville and the majority of his career was spent at Spurger ISD. At Spurger ISD he was the Junior class sponsor and a legend. After retiring from education, he became a politician, a role that suited him well. Larry Wayne Williams, 76, of Silsbee, passed away on May 14, 2026. Born on December 15, 1949, Larry lived a life marked by dedication to God, his family, his career, and the ability to bring humor and good times to those around him. Larry worked for many years in healthcare administration, retiring from UTMB in 2012. He was a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and later earned his Bachelor degrees from the University of Houston and UTMB in Galveston. Throughout much of his life, he was deeply career-oriented, taking pride in his work, and the responsibilities he carried. In retirement, he embraced a quieter life centered on home, comfort, and time with those he loved. Jerry Lynn Jackson, 79, of Kountze, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends. Jerry was born on October 30, 1946, to Johnnie and Elouise Jackson. Raised in a time when hard work, loyalty, and family meant everything, Jerry carried those values with him throughout his entire life. Jerry met Barbara while working at Weingarten’s Grocery as a sacker and later worked his way up to assistant manager. He attended Sam Houston State University and also served in the Army Reserves. He worked as a salesman for Ronco Foods, but it wasn’t long before his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in. He spent the rest of his life owning and operating several businesses, including J&B Foods, Hickory Stick BBQ, and Papa Jacks, which later became Mama Jacks. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Russell Lee Trest, age 83, of Sour Lake, who passed away on May 7, 2026. Russell was born on April 6, 1943, and lived a life marked by hard work, dedication to family, and a gift for making those around him laugh with his stories and larger-than-life personality. Russell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Alongside his beloved wife, Jeanette, he built a successful construction business where they worked side by side with their family for many years. Judy Earline Guillotte Brown, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 82, following a brief but intense battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on August 2, 1943, to Eustice Guillotte and Zalia Belle Broussard Guillotte, in the Lake Charles area, where she was born and raised alongside her siblings, Norma Hutsell and Curtis Guillotte. A devoted Christian woman, Judy lived a life defined by faith, perseverance, intelligence, and deep love for her family. She attended Marion High School before beginning her professional career as a beautician and cosmetologist. Later in life, she pursued higher education and earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University. Earl Monroe “Poppa” Morris, 93, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on April 21, 2026. The youngest of five children, he was born March 18, 1933, in Sour Lake, Texas to Alonzo W. Morris and Clara Garrison Morris. He graduated from Honey Island High School in 1951, prior to serving in the United States Air Force. On September 15, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Shirley Glaze, and they spent the next several years traveling across the United States as he worked in the construction industry. They returned to southeast Texas in 1960 and remained there the rest of their lives. Thomas Wayne Martin, Sr., 82, of Kountze, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026. He was born on February 11, 1944, in Port Arthur, to Annie Lou Brackin Martin and Walter Ray Martin. Randy Albert Norsworthy, 73, passed peacefully from this life on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on February 25, 1953, in Port Neches, Texas, to Archie Odell and Zora Virginia Norsworthy. Randy lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and a love for the simple joys of life. Throughout his career, he worked as a welder in a shipyard, a millwright at Kirby and LP, and as a propane driver. Later in life, he served the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where he worked for 10 years and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor. Shirley Mae Burlin, 90, of South Toledo Bend, previously of Silsbee, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. A gathering of Mrs. Burlin’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her interment will follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Park, South Third Street, Silsbee. Shirley was born on February 16, 1936, in Port Arthur. She married the love of her life, J.W. Burlin in 1959. After working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator, she resigned to be a homemaker and raise their three daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother and adored her grandchildren. Benny Joe Davis, 79, of Silsbee, died Saturday, March 14, 2026. He was born on November 5, 1946, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Ruby Oller Davis and Eugene Davis. Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Gore and her husband, Douglas, of Fred; granddaughters, Ciera Kalk and her husband, Cameron, of Woodville; Tasha Workman of Fred; and Doulissa Gore and her fiancé, Jesse Smith, of Fred; great-grandchildren, Ace Gore, Malarie Kalk, Edward Kalk, and Charlotte Kalk. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amie Smith; and sister, Jennifer Ramsey. A memorial gathering will be 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
