Curtis Wilrycx, 93, of High Island, died Saturday, November 30, 2024. He was born May 12, 1931, in Groves, Texas, to Louise Augusta Stone Wilrycx and Charlie Boyd Wilrycx. Survivors include his daughter, Gaynell Watson and husband, Johnny; son, Curtis Dale Wilrycx; daughter, Shirlynn Montange; grandchildren, Anitra Langford, Ray Watson, and Monica Jordan; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Wilrycx; sister, Myrtle Foreman; and nephew, Randy Foreman. Mary Elizabeth Welch, 93, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1931, to George Manuel Jones and Ethel Ola Smith Jones, in Dallas. Mary was a successful Real Estate Broker in El Paso, Texas. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her girlfriends, and enjoyed putting together puzzles and solving crossword puzzles. In her earlier years, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and sewing. Mary loved to travel, and she set sail on many cruises with her friends and with her family.  She’s traveled all over the world!  Among her favorite destinations were Alaska, Bali, Ireland, and Vietnam. Mary had a blast “junking” in Germany. She loved her grandchildren and celebrated her great-grandchildren. Mary loved showing off their photos and smiled the biggest when they were around. Bertha Faye Hoffpauir, of Spring, died Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born on February 10, 1926, to Frankie Barrow and Ivy Barrow, in High Island, and she lived a long life of 98 years. In her years of growing up, she saw the Depression, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and so many more that I’m sure she could tell you some stories of. Bertha loved planting her flowers in the spring. Sometimes she would have planted over 100 flowers, and she’d admire every single one. She loved to sew and wanted to continue to sew up until the day she was too sick to do so. She loved her animals and had a cat named, Friskey, who died at the ripe old age of 19. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Talley Graff on November 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Howard was born on March 24, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Howard Waldo Graff and Vera Robb Graff. He married Carvelynne Graff on March 18, 1972, at Calder Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. For forty-three years, Howard–better known as Dr. Graff to his patients– was a highly respected dentist in Beaumont. He loved to hunt, raise and train golden retrievers, coach YMCA youth sports, and attend his Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, Hamshire, Texas. Steven Delaney Reho, 62, of High Island, died October 10, 2024. He was born December 1, 1961, in Beaumont, to Gloria and Jospeh “Joe” Reho. Steve owned a Lawn Service, for 35 years, and spent most of his life mowing grass in Crystal Beach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, his brother and his close friends. Rafael Valdez Alvarado, 79, of Winnie, died Saturday, October 5, 2024. He was born June 4, 1945, in Durango, Mexico, to Maria Antonia Valdez Gonzales and Rafael Alvarado Escajeda. Rafael lived in Winnie since the mid 70’s and was married to his wife, Nancy, until she went to be with the Lord in 2008. He has worked on farms, in construction, worked in the rice fields of Winnie and Hamshire and in various oil and gas companies throughout his time. His last 15 years he spent with Premiere, Inc. and retired from there. Charlotte Elizabeth Eddleman, 85, of Winnie, Texas passed away at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. She was born in Lufkin, Texas on November 30th, 1938, to Earl Watts and Sadye McMullen Watts. Charlotte began school in Beaumont, Texas while living in the Edson Hotel where her father was employed. She had fond memories of her mother playing the piano while she tap danced across the ballroom after school. Her family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School. She then attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was a proud Lumberjack all her life. Shirley Dell Bergeron, 87, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was born August 22, 1937, in Orange, to Grace Bilbo Dudley and Samuel Dudley. Dell always enjoyed going to estate and garage sales with her friends, and playing slot machines. She enjoyed helping others and often volunteered at her church and at local charities.  Her friends brought richness to her life.  They shared joy through garage sale finds, casino wins (and losses), and MUCH laughter. Randall “Randy” Ray Ward, Sr., 89, of Crystal Beach, passed away peacefully at home August 22, 2024. He was born March 26, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas to Elizabeth Lucile Mann and Raymond Adam Ward. Albert Peter Nardiello, Jr., 77, of Crystal Beach, Texas passed peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was born March 21,1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Robert E. Dubose, Jr., 81, of Winnie, died July 16, 2024. He was born August 10, 1942, to Jeanette and Robert Dubose, Sr. in Crowley, Louisiana. He was the oldest of four children. Robert was the owner and operator of Gulf Coast Automotive in Winnie, Texas for 54 years. He loved his business and being able to help the farmers, ranchers and community members. Over the years “the store” became a morning meeting ground with coffee and donuts. Robert so enjoyed the time in his store with friends and customers alike. He also enjoyed traveling. Arthur Swiger, 87, of Hamshire, died Sunday, July 6, 2024. He was born June 21, 1937, in Loeb, Texas, to Alma and C.V. Swiger. As a kid Arthur and his friends would go camping for a couple of days and catch crawfish with a string then boil them in a can for their meals. Later he served in the Navy active duty for four years then was reserve for two years. After his years in the service, he began working at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and retired as a lieutenant deputy. Leanna Martin, 84, of Winnie, died June 26, 2024. She was born on October 31, 1939, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Lena and Rodney Guillory. She is survived by daughters, Lori Martin and Carolyn Leday, and her husband, J.D Leday, Jr.; sons, Joseph Martin and his wife, Debra, Allen Martin, Arthur Martin, Larry Martin; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Leanna is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Sarah Martin. A gathering of Ms. Martin’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with her graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

Florence Mary Mason, 92, of Winnie, died Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was born March 24, 1932, in Zavala, to Lorelia Marie Landry and Jesse Christian. Florence was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, playing cards on a Sunday afternoon. She loved having family and friends over. She is survived by daughters; Virginia Barge, and her husband, Butch, of Etoil, Texas, Becky Johnson, and her husband, David, of Temple, Texas, Vanessa Atkinson, and her husband, Jerry, of Coldspring; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Florence is preceded by her parents; loving husband, John Mason; sons, James Jackson, Jerry Jackson, Martin East; and daughter, Lynda Abshire. A gathering of Ms. Mason’s friends and family will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
