Loretha “Puder” Webb Broussard, 77, of Hamshire, Texas passed away in Beaumont, Texas on October 30, 2024. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 18, 1947, to Byron Webb and Dorothy Rexes Webb Wilber. Loretha was raised and lived in Hamshire, Texas. Known for her vibrant spirit, love for her friends, and eccentric charm, she was a force of nature who lived life on her own terms. She is survived by her daughter, Tori Lynn Green and her husband, Kevin Green, of Huntsville, Texas; son, Byron Kade Broussard and his fiancé, Shawn Knight; sister, Monique Wilber, of Winnie; grandchildren, Kaleb Green (Pam), Shelby Broussard (J.P.), Sarah Green (Ashley), Olivia Viator (Ethan), Will Broussard (Gracie); niece, Maegan Sonnier; and nephew, Jacob Sonnier. She is survived by her husband, Arnulfo Castruita of Winnie; son, Keith Norcross of Florida; daughter, Brenda Norcross of Florida; sister, Gisela Flesh of Tennessee; grandchildren, Brandon Norcross of Vidor and Caleb Norcross and his wife, Tia, of Buna; great-grandchildren, Carter, Addyson, Samuel, Alexander, and Ava Norcross; former daughter-in-law, Shanda Norcross. Steven Delaney Reho, 62, of High Island, died October 10, 2024. He was born December 1, 1961, in Beaumont, to Gloria and Jospeh “Joe” Reho. Steve owned a Lawn Service, for 35 years, and spent most of his life mowing grass in Crystal Beach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, his brother and his close friends. He loved his church and his dog, Shade. He will be greatly missed. Rafael Valdez Alvarado, 79, of Winnie, died Saturday, October 5, 2024. He was born June 4, 1945, in Durango, Mexico, to Maria Antonia Valdez Gonzales and Rafael Alvarado Escajeda. Rafael lived in Winnie since the mid 70’s and was married to his wife, Nancy, until she went to be with the Lord in 2008. He has worked on farms, in construction, worked in the rice fields of Winnie and Hamshire and in various oil and gas companies throughout his time. His last 15 years he spent with Premiere, Inc. and retired from there. Some activities he enjoyed were fishing, barbecuing, helping others around Winnie with various jobs, being with friends, volunteering at the Rice Festival and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. Charlotte Elizabeth Eddleman, 85, of Winnie, Texas passed away at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. She was born in Lufkin, Texas on November 30th, 1938, to Earl Watts and Sadye McMullen Watts. Charlotte began school in Beaumont, Texas while living in the Edson Hotel where her father was employed. She had fond memories of her mother playing the piano while she tap danced across the ballroom after school. Her family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School. She then attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was a proud Lumberjack all her life. Jackie “Big Jack” Lee Bertolino, Sr., 68, of High Island, died Sunday, September 15, 2024. He was born September 11, 1956, in Galveston, to Helen “Tiny” Canada and Salvador “Sonny” Bertolino. Big Jack born and raised, planted his roots deep in the state of Texas. He loved fishing, golf, Nascar, and playing poker. He was a big fan of the Houston Texans and Astros, and all Texas sports teams. Jackie was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Shirley Dell Bergeron, 87, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was born August 22, 1937, in Orange, to Grace Bilbo Dudley and Samuel Dudley. Dell always enjoyed going to estate and garage sales with her friends, and playing slot machines. She enjoyed helping others and often volunteered at her church and at local charities. Her friends brought richness to her life. They shared joy through garage sale finds, casino wins (and losses), and MUCH laughter. Dell loved the Lord and had a gift of hospitality and her home was a place where people were always welcomed and fed well. Randall “Randy” Ray Ward, Sr., 89, of Crystal Beach, passed away peacefully at home August 22, 2024. He was born March 26, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas to Elizabeth Lucile Mann and Raymond Adam Ward. Randy loved spending time with his family, his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren with all his heart. Robert E. Dubose, Jr., 81, of Winnie, died July 16, 2024. He was born August 10, 1942, to Jeanette and Robert Dubose, Sr. in Crowley, Louisiana. He was the oldest of four children. Robert was the owner and operator of Gulf Coast Automotive in Winnie, Texas for 54 years. He loved his business and being able to help the farmers, ranchers and community members. Over the years “the store” became a morning meeting ground with coffee and donuts. Robert so enjoyed the time in his store with friends and customers alike. He also enjoyed traveling. Arthur Swiger, 87, of Hamshire, died Sunday, July 6, 2024. He was born June 21, 1937, in Loeb, Texas, to Alma and C.V. Swiger. As a kid Arthur and his friends would go camping for a couple of days and catch crawfish with a string then boil them in a can for their meals. Later he served in the Navy active duty for four years then was reserve for two years. After his years in the service, he began working at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and retired as a lieutenant deputy. Florence was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, playing cards on a Sunday afternoon. She loved having family and friends over. Raul (Coach) Espinosa, 84, was residing at Rockport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rockport, Texas at the time of his death. Before moving to Rockport, he lived in Winnie, Texas for 49 years. Jennifer Leanne Darwin, 53, of Crystal Beach, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She was born on March 12, 1971, in Phoenix, Arizona, to her father and Carla Howard Minyard. Jennifer went into the Army in 1988 at 17 years old. She spent nine months in Desert Storm before returning home and was honorably discharged in 1991. She and Steve married in 1995 after dating only 8 months. They remained best friends for 30 years. Jennifer was the Matriarch of her family. She was a one of a kind person that was loved by everyone (especially her family), and will be missed from this earth forever. Debra Diane Dale, 70, of Hamshire, died June 9, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1953, in Ballinger, Texas, to Maxine and C.W. Hendricks. She enjoyed drinking coffee, watching TBN, shopping on QVC, and listening to Cajun music. DeeDee was her carefully chosen name when she found out she was going to be a grandmother. DeeDee loved Sunday meals and spending time with her family. Most of her life was spent caring for others, both young and old in the community. Her door was always open for anyone who wanted visit. Judy Lynn Abney, 69, of Winnie, died peacefully at home on June 2, 2024. She was born to Agnes and L.A. Haltom on September 17, 1954, in Cleveland. She was employed with Morris and Dickson for 32 years. She was a great mom, granny, and great-grandmother. She was also a great friend to many that had the privilege to know her.
