Mary Lorene Craigen Melancon Wagner, 93, of Fannett, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. She was born August 23, 1929, in Fannett, to Josephine Holst Craigen and Leo Edward Craigen. Lorene was a faithful Catholic her entire life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Hamshire, where she married Andrus Melancon in 1949. They moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1960, and she attended Our Lady of Assumption. She moved back to Fannett in 1966, and was a loyal member of Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and choir. She prayed several times a day and said her rosary nightly. If anyone was sick, having problems, or just needed extra prayers, she said an additional rosary for them. She had several pairs around her home and one in her purse. She taught her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids about the Lord. She always tried to live […]

Judy lived a good, Christian life, raising her five children alongside her husband, Floyd Byerley, Sr. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church and raised her children in the same faith. She worked as a homemaker and worked outside of the home when her children were older. She had various jobs in her career; she worked for the school district in High Island for many years and worked as a TDC housekeeper for the prison hospital in Galveston and as a people greeter at Walmart in Texas City. Joycelyn Tully ran into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Joycelyn was born the third daughter of James Ozro Hughes and Evelyn Grubbs Hughes on October 14, 1943, in Liberty, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1965. After graduation, she started and ran her own insurance company. Joycelyn’s heart, however, was in education. She became the supervisor over all libraries in the Texas Criminal Justice System. In 1993, Joycelyn married Roy Tully and moved her life to Southeast Texas. She ended her career in education as a counselor at the Mark Stiles Unit helping offenders reintegrate into society after serving their sentences. After retirement, she and Roy traveled extensively and enjoyed their family, especially their children and grandchildren. She adored being a Mimi. Stephen “Gabby” Edward George, 76, of League City, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022. He was born August 9, 1946, in Galveston, to Dorothy Mae Berwick and John Joseph George. Survivors include his wife, Peggy George of League City; daughters, Megan Stafford and wife, Samantha, of Houston and Stefanie Dristas and husband, Gregory, of Boerne; granddaughter, Alyssa Dristas; brothers, Delbert Bull and Michael George; and former spouse, Janeen Rickard. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dickie George. Steve grew up in High Island, Texas. Emery Lee LeDoux, 85, of Devers, died Monday, November 14, 2022. He was born May 14, 1937 in Jennings, Louisiana to Ruby and Pierre LeDoux. Survivors include his son, James LeDoux, Sr. and wife, Shelia; daughter, Lena Morris; stepdaughter, Carolyn Wagner; sister, Brenda Sue Johnson; grandchildren – Ellen Tucker-Zunker, James LeDoux, Jr., Tonya Melancon, Megan Pickens, Scottie Melancon, Matthew Wagner; seventeen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beulah LeDoux; son, Wade LeDoux; daughter, Abigail Guillot; and brothers, J.D. LeDoux and William LeDoux. There will be a memorial service to be held at a later date. Mr. LeDoux’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas.

Patricia “Pat” Warren

Patricia Ann “Pat” Warren, 76, of Fannett, died Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the Arboretum of Winnie. She was born September 5, 1946, to Loyis and Lessie Warren. Patricia graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School where she met the love of her life, Joseph Landry Dugat. They married and had three children. Pat spent many years being a homemaker and later worked in banking.  Then moved on to work for Texas Eastern Pipeline Company where she took great pride in being the first female pumper. She continued her career in the oil and gas field with Griffin- Alexander Drilling Company, and later with Chevron Pipeline Company in Safety and Compliance where she retired.   She had a very strong work ethic and imparted that in her children.
