Herbert graduated from Milby High School in 1960 and soon began his career with the United States Postal Service. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 as a radar repairman. Following his military service, he returned to the Postal Service, where he dedicated many years before retiring as Postmaster in 1992. Tammy Lynn Monse, 59, of Winnie, died Monday, February 23, 2026. She was born to Margaret LaFleur Sitka and Charles Jerry Sitka on September 30, 1966, in Nederland. Survivors include children, Kayla Tallina and her husband, Josh, and Weston Monse and his wife, Justyce; grandchildren, Karlie, Raylin, Rawlson, Ezra, Brooklyn, Judah and Jade; sister, Kensie Hunt and her husband, Marc; her mother, Margo Sitka; and her former husband and father of her children, Wesley Monse. She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie. Mrs. Monse was a dedicated worker and a sociable “people person”. She enjoyed playing digital games in her free time and decorating with Western themed decor, and especially loved butterflies. Tammy spent much of her time birding and watching her Dallas Cowboys.
