Billy Manuel, 69, of Winnie, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was born, October 25, 1952, to Nola Myers Manuel and Mack Joseph Manuel, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Growing up he enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and sports. He graduated from Terrebonne High School, in Houma, La, where his passion was playing baseball. Billy worked pipeline construction for Winnie Welding Works for over 30 years. He loved cooking and will be remembered for his Cajun fried turkeys and gumbo. He never met a stranger. He spent countless hours in his outdoor kitchen and if you knew Billy, you knew that’s where you could find him. Billy enjoyed Cajun music, Braves baseball, and yardwork. He loved having all the family together and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Dennis Wayne Votaw, 77, of Fannett, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital of Beaumont. He was born February 19, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Nancy Taracko Votaw and Forrest Votaw. Dennis was a United States Navy veteran. He retired from Southwestern Bell as a telecommunications technician after thirty-four years of service and he spent some time as a motorcycle safety instructor. Dennis was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hamshire. He was fluent in Spanish and taught Spanish Sunday school at church. Dennis was a master gardener and he always enjoyed sharing his crop. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandpa. Kandie enjoyed being a mother very much. She also enjoyed cooking and anything to do with the beach. Halloween was Kandie’s most favorite holiday, and she had three fur babies that she loved dearly. She was born May 19, 1950, in Winnie, to Jeanne Maxine Haley Crosby and Gerald Avon Crosby, Sr. Oma started her career as a office manager for Temple Inland. Later, she and her husband, John, owned their own businesses for over thirty years. They owned John and Oma Automatic Transmissions in Silsbee and Winnie as well as Bigfoot Transmissions in Evadale. Oma enjoyed collecting coins and ships with sails. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, especially 60’s to the 80’s rock, and watching crime/dramas on television. Billie Mae Foster spent her life as a young girl in Silsbee.  From a young age, she lived in a variety of places.  Along the way, she made life-long friends that she stayed in touch with her whole life. Later, she would find the love of her life, her World War II pilot, Elmer Foster.  These two doted and flirted with each other for over 55 years. Billie loved doing craftwork, sewing, knitting and tending to her flowers. Pierre Legé was born on July 27, 1940, in Wright, LA, to Leonce Legé, Sr, and Polita Bertrand Legé, and entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2021, at the age of 81.  Pierre started school in Gueydan, LA.  In the ninth grade the family moved to Winnie, TX, and Pierre attended school at East Chambers, where he graduated in 1959. He married Celanie Richard the following year.  This marriage was blessed with two sons, Tony and Ken Legé.  Their beloved son, Tony Legé, passed away at the age of 25 in 1987. She is preceded in death by her parents.
