Harris Betty is survived by her children, Glenn Emenhiser, Jerry Emenhiser, and Linda Crowton and her husband, Kenny; granddaughter, Samantha Crowton; sisters, Wanda Cates and her husband, Arnold, and Linda McCroskey and her husband, Roy Gene; brothers, Roger Harris and R.V. Harris and his, wife, Pat. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Gerald Emenhiser; brothers, Huey, and James Harris; and sister, Effie Moss. Dennis Scott Meloncon, 56, of Hamshire, died Monday, September 18, 2023. He was born December 11, 1966, in Port Arthur, to Sandra and Joe Meloncon. Dennis worked for over thirty years at the Beaumont Enterprise a job he truly loved. He was able to see the news firsthand and follow his obsession with all things sports. As an avid sports fan with a phenomenal memory, there was never a trivia question he couldn’t answer. He held a special affinity and fandom for the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns football. He loved to play pool and was a long time APA player in the greater Beaumont area, and most recently, he captained a team, Dazed and Confused, which for all those who knew him was a remarkably apt name. Robert Wayne Langston, 62, of Winnie, died Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born April 13, 1961, to Bobby Gene Langston and Stella Annette Frazier. He enjoyed fishing, going to the renaissance festival, and listening to country music. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his mother; daughters, Carolyn Moore and Desiree Langston of Lumberton; sister, Lisa Langston of Winnie; nephew, Brandon Langston; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his father and his son, Cameron Langston. Howard Gene Hall, Sr., 81, of High Island, died Saturday, September 2, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1942, in Newton, to Herman Harold Hall and Ann Azelle Crane. Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, arguing politics, and playing practical jokes on friends and family. He was a very dedicated Deacon at the First United Pentecostal – High Island. He will forever remain a loving husband, father, and big pawpaw. Verna enjoyed reading books and listening to music. She will forever remain a loving mother and nanny. Mary “Beulah” Pearce Romere, 92, of Winnie, Texas, passed away on August 15, 2023 in Beaumont, Texas. Beulah was born on June 15, 1931 in New Augusta, Mississippi and welcomed by her parents and two older brothers. Upon graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to become a county clerk. In 1960, she met the man of her dreams, Lindy Romere, in a bowling alley, and what followed was a whirlwind relationship of 52 years. Lindy and Beulah proceeded to have 8 children, over a 14 year period, moving every few years to a new city and state. Kenneth Raymond Harris, 86, died, Thursday, July 20, 2023, in Beaumont. He was born on April 19, 1937, to Elsie Creigh Harris and Lois Lorene Wilson. Kenneth grew up in a loving home with both laughter and tears. His family shared with others in time of need and had occasion to receive the same. They opened their home to family members who had lost their home in a fire, then experienced the same fate themselves. He lost his Dad to a heart attack in 1961. Yvonne Fontenot Lindsey, 89, of Winnie, died Sunday, July 16, 2023. She was born December 3, 1933, in Branch, Louisiana, to Olla Petitjean Fontenot and Walter Fontenot, and had been a resident of Winnie since 1953. She was a devoted mother and wife, and a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church. She volunteered at the Vine Resale shop, made rice balls and worked the Rice Festival booth every year, and anything else the church needed until she was no longer able. Patricia Ann Beaugh, 85, of Hamshire, died Saturday, July 1, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1937, in Crossett, Arkansas to Myrtle Elizabeth Hopper and Alfred William Dodd. Patricia retired as a Nursing Inspector for the state of Texas after over forty-five years of experience. She also worked in many other local facilities as a director of nursing. Patricia enjoyed fishing and working in her garden. She also loved telling stories. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Hamshire. Annie Dell Leleux, 93, of Winnie, died Friday, June 2, 2023. She was born April 25, 1930, in Esto, Florida, to Jennie Elmary Peacock McElvain and Wilton Franklin McElvain. God has welcomed a sweet spirit when Annie Dell was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She accepted the Lord at a young age but requested to be Baptized once again at the age of 82. She faithfully attended Cornerstone Church in Winnie until the Covid pandemic caused her to stay home. She continued to take part by watching faithfully on YouTube every Sunday. Lewis “Taco” Joseph Rodriguez, Sr., 63, passed away at 9:53 a.m., May 26, 2023. He was born on July 12, 1959, in Winshire, Texas to Secundino Rodriguez and Rachel Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez graduated from Hamshire Fannett High School in 1977 and started working in the oil fields in 1978. He worked as a casing hand and then operations manager in 1996 until 2012. Raised in the oil patch of West Texas, and following High School in Jal New Mexico, he graduated from Texas Western College (now UTEP) majoring in journalism, and mass communications. Comfortable in the public spotlight, he worked for many years in radio, television, and newspapers across Texas and New Mexico. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Jerry also know he has lived without a speaking voice since October 1963 (due to a car accident). His family and friends never witnessed him feeling sorry for himself and embraced life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone he thought would listen – even though his whisper was hard for some to understand. Mary Katherine Heiner Bauer was born August 14, 1932, to Adolph Heiner, Sr and Lydia Schiesler Heiner in Beaumont Texas. Mary was brought to Jesus in Holy Baptism on September 18, 1932, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beaumont, Texas where she publicly affirmed her faith in the rite of Confirmation on April 25, 1945. She was joined in marriage to Robert Bauer on June 26, 1949, at St John Lutheran Church in Beaumont. She devoted herself to her Lord, to her family, and to their rice farm and cattle ranch. In 1973, they became charter members of Hope Lutheran Church in Winnie, Texas. Mary was involved in many activities at the church. She was very active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, enjoying many district and national conventions. She and Robert also supported Concordia Lutheran University in Austin in many ways. Jerry B. Templin, 88, of La Grange, Texas went to his Heavenly Father’s home, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, after a short battle with AML. Jerry was born to Jesse Robert Templin and Ollie Irene Sanderson (Templin) on February 18, 1935, in Peacock, Texas of Stonewall County. Jerry graduated from Brownwood High School in 1953, where he has kept many lifelong friends and was still a Brownwood Lion at heart. In 1958, Jerry married Velda Carlene Mills of Santa Anna, Texas. Jerry joined the Army National Reserves where he served five years in Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the Army, Jerry went to work for Union Texas Petroleum which brought his family to Hamshire, Texas. This is where he and Carlene raised their family and made many friends.
