Alice Jeffcoat

August 15, 1937 - August 24, 2017

Alice Kathryn (Terry) Jeffcoat went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2017, she was 80 years and 1 week of age.

Alice was born August 15, 1937, to Joe Terry and Georgia Oleta Marrs Terry in Warren, Texas.  She was raised in this corner of Southeast Texas and attended French High School. Alice married Sam Jeffcoat July 13, 1954, in Beaumont, Texas, and they spent over sixty-three years of their life happily together. They made their home and raised their family of three children in the heart of downtown Fred. Alice was a beloved and longtime member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Fred, where she served as treasurer for over a decade.

Alice was a Sunday school teacher, church volunteer, bookkeeper for her husband and sons’ tractor business, tax preparer, caring neighbor, and participated in numerous community events throughout the years.  She loved sewing, and handmade countless Christmas dresses, Halloween costumes, and many other creations for her grandchildren and others. Her cooking and desire to feed and care for others remains above all a testament to her loving spirit. Most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and shared her faith through word and deed with all those around her.

Alice is survived by her devoted husband, Sam Jeffcoat, daughter, Sandra and husband, Tony Nassif, son, Jimmy Jeffcoat, and son, Joel and wife, Judy Jeffcoat. She was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Sandra’s children, April Ruen, husband, Jason and children, Luke and Meagan, Brent Fry, wife, Janet and daughter, Aubrey Kathryn; Jimmy’s children, Nickie Barber and sons, Nickolas and Dylan, Justin Jeffcoat, Claudia Kathryn (Katie) Jeffcoat, Sammie Jo Jeffcoat, Maegan Archer and her children; and Joel’s children, Shad Skinner, wife, Tressa and sons, Keegan, Brendan, and Cameron, and Christi Cauthen, husband, Will and sons, Seth and Mason. Alice is also survived by her brother, John Terry and his family, special cousins, Anne, Dorothy, and Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews who brought her happiness and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Georgia Terry; brothers, Bill Terry, Derl Terry, and Pete Terry; sister, Adah-June Terry; and aunt Helen Strom.

The family is eternally grateful to all those who kept Alice in their prayers and visited her, with a special thanks to Debra, Joanie and Kindred Hospice for the loving care and attention given to Alice and her family over the past four months.

Friends and loved ones are invited to attend the visitation Friday, August 25, 2017, at Broussard’s Funeral Home of Silsbee from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow Saturday August 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Bro. Robert McCelland at the Broussard’s Chapel in Silsbee. Interment will immediately follow at Franks Branch Community Cemetery in Fred, TX, with a luncheon afterwards hosted by Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

I loved visiting Sam(antha) and Alice.. I'm not sure how many games of dominoes and spades I witnessed them play at Britt and Jessies house, but it was a lot. Mrs. Alice was always a sweetheart. Even after I grew up and saw her from time to time she was the same loving lady I knew as a kid. The world has lost a precious soul, but I know she is in a better place. I'll be praying for you Sam and the rest of the family. May the Lord comfort you during this difficult time. Nathan Phillips

Alice was a gracious and kind and loving lady. If I can become half the person she was, I will have achieved much. You are all in our prayers.

Dearest Sam, I didn't know about your loss until today. I've not gotten a paper lately and I'm so sorry I didn't get to see you & the family. It seems like just yesterday that I visited with you both at the funeral home when Maxine was there. I know Ms. Alice loved you and your family. To you and your beautiful family, I offer my most sincere condolences. May God give yall strength now & always. I loved Ms. Alice and loved to tease her about being married to the most handsome man. Love to you and your family. Lynda Vern Gore
