Farrell “Sonny” Gray

July 24, 1931 - June 19, 2017

Farrell “Sonny” Gray, 85, of Nederland, died Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born on July 24, 1931, in Hemphill, to Ruby Mae Farrell Gray and Arthur Lee Gray.

Farrell retired from Gulf Oil after more than thirty-three years of service as a supervisor of financial accounting. He enjoyed gardening and mall walking. Farrell was a fifty-year member of Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and pawpaw.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Bernella Gray, of Nederland; sons, Phillip Gray and his wife, Roxane; Daryl “Steve” Gray and his wife, Shawn; and Robert Gray and his wife, Wendy, all of Nederland; daughters, Shari Shirley and her husband, Ray, of Nederland; Sheila Jordan and her husband, Jay, of Port Neches; and Marla Kieschnick and her husband, Wade, of Nederland; grandchildren, Haley, Hillary, Hannah, Dallas, Dustin, Brenton, Josh, Danielle, Zachary, Caroline, William, Nathan R., Nathan J., Melody, Bethany, Robyn, Abby, Whitney, and Griffin; great-grandchildren, Mary, Amelia, Katherine, and Clark; sister, Shirley Short and her husband, Truman “B.T.”, of Pineland; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruby Gray; sisters, Margueritte Krause, Threcia Walker, and Helen Brown; and brother, Lethel Walker.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Gray may be made to Salvation Army, 2350 IH-10 East, Beaumont, Texas 77703.

A gathering of Mr. Gray’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
