Pierre Lawrence Trahan

September 16, 1926 - August 31, 2017

Pierre Lawrence Trahan, 90, of China, died Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on September 16, 1926, to Delia Thibodeaux Trahan and Nelton Trahan, in Morse, Louisiana, and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He came to Texas at three months old.

Mr. Trahan was an operator in the Lube Plant at Beaumont’s Mobil Oil refinery for many years, retiring in 1982 as a unit supervisor. He truly enjoyed gardening, fishing, shrimping and getting together with family and friends to make smoked sausage, chicken and ribs. He also loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family, as well as neighbors and friends.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Hazel Trahan; sons, Mack Trahan and his wife, Carolyn, of China and Jerry Trahan and his wife, Leslie, of Marion; daughter, Patti Calder and her husband, Donald and Donna Foreman and her husband, Shelly; sons, David Trahan and his wife, Bonnie and Charles Trahan and his wife, Dana, all of China; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren with one on the way; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Earl Lawrence Trahan.

A Rosary for Mr. Trahan will be recited at 5:00 p.m. with gathering of family and friends to follow until 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 Highway 90 West, China, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at China Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Larry Trahan, Jonathan Savoie, Kyle Lee, Danny Foreman, Jason Trahan and Blake Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Tyson Young, Tyler Bell, Dustin Ikels, David Byrum, Mark McCurley, and Matt Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #14473, P.O. Box 593, China, Texas 77613.
